Makana Yamamoto is a published American author.
Makana Yamamoto was born in Maui on the island. Makana grew up on both beaches and in snowbanks due to dividing her time between the Mainland and Hawai’i.
Makana has always been a scientist at heart. So it should come as no surprise that Makana fell in love with science fiction when a teenager. They even were the leader of the science fiction and fantasy interest house at their college.
Makana Yamamoto has been a writer ever since she was a child. Fiction became the ideal medium for them toe explore their intersets and reconnect with their culture. This coalesced into a passion for diverse science fiction.
The author loves writing queer characters and multicultural settings in addition to imagining what the future could possibly look like for communities that have been historically marginalized.
In the author’s free time, Makana enjoys hoarding dice for games of Dungeons & Dragons, as well as experimenting in the kitchen, working with their guildmates to defeat bosses, and get overly invested in what’s going on in reality competition television shows.
Today she is married and shares two cats with her wife. They reside on the East Coast.
Makana Yamamoto is the author off Hammajang Luck. If you loved Blade Runner or Ocean’s 8, you’re going to love this science fiction masterpiece! Also a love letter to the state of Hawai’i from the author, this is a great debut that you must check out.
Edie is finally done with crime. She spent eight years behind bars, and that can change you. It costs you the precious time that you could have spent with the people who need it from you. But she knows who to blame. It’s all Angel’s fault.
She was the one who sold Edie out in a moment that should have been their greatest. Instead she had to go to an icy prison planet that was far below skybridges and the Kepler space station– her home– to spend the better part of a decade on her own.7
When a chance to get early parole appears, Edie finds that she’s free. But when she steps into the sunlight, she finds that it’s Angel waiting for her. And that Judas has an offer for her.
She’s offering Edie one last deal, one final target, one last job. Worse, it features the trillionaire tech god that they could not bring down last time. She just has to trust Angel, which is easier said than done.
Edie doesn’t want to trust angel again at all. The plan also seems flimsy. What could go hammajang about this plan? Anything. Get a copy of this book to tune in and see what happens!
