Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara was born in Barcelona, Spain. She is a creative director and writer constantly in search of new concepts for kids’ books.

Working for over fifteen years for clients in top advertising agencies, her books combine creativity with learning, and aim to establish a fresh and new relationship between kids and pop culture.

Her “Little People, BIG DREAMS” series first came to life because Maria had an idea, one that blossomed into a dream which came to life in a book series.

The series has sold millions of copies. It is a biography series for kids which explores the lives of outstanding people, from artists, designers, authors, activists, and scientists. Each one of them achieved incredible things, but each one of them still started life as a kid with a dream.

Each book is told in different formats. The board books are told in simple sentences, perfect for reading aloud to toddlers and babies. Whereas the hardcover and paperback versions present an expanded story for beginning readers.

She grew up in Barcelona during the 70s, and her heroines were Tinkerbell, Pippi Longstocking, and Momo, and felt great admiration for the Spanish poet named Gloria Fuertes. Maria dreamt of becoming a poet just like her one day. It took Maria close to 40 years and much of her savings in order to make her dream come true. In the year 2012, after Maria worked in advertising for twenty years, she self-published her first book. Two years later, she released what was supposed to be a birth present for Claudia and Alba, her twin nieces, the very first book of her “Little People, BIG DREAMS” series.

The series is translated into over twenty languages. Maria likes to believe that the success of the series relies on the fact that kids love to read real stories about other kids achieving great things. It gives them the courage and strength to believe in themselves and dream BIG.

“Coco Chanel” is the first novel in the “Little People, BIG DREAMS” series and was released in 2016. After the death of Coco’s mom, she spent her early life in an orphanage, where she was taught how to use a needle and thread. From there, she became a seamstress, a cabaret singer, hat maker, and eventually became the world’s most famous fashion designer.
