Murder in the Pacific: Ifira Point is the first book in the Murder in the Pacific series by Matt Francis. If you love a good mystery set in an exotic location and don’t mind staying up a little later to find out what happens next, check this story out!

A girl goes missing in Vanuatu and is reported on the local radio as such. She is twelve years old, but Esther Paul will never grow older than twelve. It has been just two days when her body is discovered in the sea, located just off of Ifira Point.

Unfortunately, Sergeant George Long and Constable Jayline Oli have no idea if they are looking into an accident or a murder. They don’t have access to full forensics so it’s difficult to say, but a quick glance at the head wound and a little critical thinking leads them to believe that the young girl was likely murdered.

They have no idea who among them would have the desire to kill a girl so young and innocent, not even out of school yet. But perhaps the young girl heard about something that she could not get away from. She could have been privy to secrets, secrets that someone out there wanted to make sure would never see the light of day and was willing to kill in order to make that happen.

George and Jayline know that they have a lot of work to do, especially thanks to the delicate status of the Vanuatu Police Force. They are also being driven around in the most unsafe taxi van of all time in Port Vila, which is being driven by someone aspiring to be Jayline’s boyfriend.

It turns out that George’s personal love for a radio newsreader in Vanuatu also starts to have an effect on the investigation. From Mele Beach at Port Vila’s one end and Pango on the other, the two are finding themselves extremely challenged by the broken roads there, as well as the restaurants that are completely empty and the cultural norms that are outside the norm for them.

They’re also having a problem with trying to figure out what went on with the death. Was this a murder, or simply an accident that went poorly? This is a debut novel in the series that is sure to whisk the reader away to Vanuatu, pulling them in to an investigation that they won’t soon forget.

If you love a good mystery and find yourself intrigued by the description, combine tropical and true crime for a fun time and get yourself a copy of Ifira Point!

Murder in the Pacific: Mt Yasur is the second book in the Murder in the Pacific series by Matt Francis. If you love a good mystery story, then check this series out and see how George and Jayline get involved in another compelling investigation.

Hu Lee is the head of an aid agency that is located in the center of Vanuatu’s Tanna Island. He has come to a terrible end and has been stabbed to death right in the middle of a tsunami evacuation drill. Everything was so harried that there were no credible witnesses to see what happened.

Sergeant George Long was visiting in order to attend Constable Jayline Oli’s wedding. Now he is put into playing the role of lead investigator and getting to the bottom of what exactly happened to Hu Lee. His superiors in Vila order him to check it out, and he goes all the more deeply into a case that is already confusing and has pulled the attention of the government in Vanuatu, the police force, and the Chinese Embassy.

Jayline and George look into it all more, and they soon find an interconnected world of debt that is owed to Lee. It shows now that there are more suspects out there with more motives than they previously thought.

The way to what the truth really is will soon be overrun with various obstacles. George and Jayline are going to have to deal with local law enforcement who is anything but uncooperative, a visit to them from an official from the Chinese Embassy, the possibility of family involvement, and more.

On top of that, they’re going to have to travel all over the rugged terrain of Vanuatu, going from the town of Lenakel to Mt. Yasur’s summit– a volcano that is still active. The investigation keeps going, and as it does, another layer is added to the case with George’s mixed heritage.

It gets him even more deeply involved in a case that is getting more personal by the second. When his own life starts falling apart, it becomes clear that there is a real need to solve this case. Landscapes in the background provide beautiful scenery as the pair join in a race against the clock to get to the bottom of a web of deception and secrets.

If you have been looking for an engaging murder mystery and haven’t found one that you love, give this one a try and see what you think of it and get to the bottom of what happens along with Jayline and George by getting a copy of Murder in the Pacific: Mt Yasur.
