Matthew Eicheldinger is an American published author who was not always a writer.

For most of his childhood, Matt recounts that he read comics, played soccer, and did his very best to stay out of trouble. He had no idea that those moments would lead to him coming up with his first novel for kids, which was called Matt Sprouts and the Curse of the Ten Broken Toes.

The first book in this series was independently published in 2021. After that, it received four national awards. It then was named the Indie Book of the Year. This received the attention of Andrews McMeel Publishing, which ended up buying the rights to the book. It did very well and became a USA Today Bestseller and a New York Times bestseller the first week that it was released.

This author has been teaching middle school language arts for the past 15 years. He has also become very well known for the storytelling way that he teaches. He has cultivated a social media audience and is one of the top-followed teacher accounts on Instagram.

Matthew is married and resides in Minnesota. He has a wife and two children. He attempts to come up with new adventures with them whenever possible. Eicheldinger of course loves to write but when he is not busy doing that he can usually be found either telling stories to his students in the classroom or going trail running along the Minnesota River Bottoms.

The same year that his Matt Sprouts series debut was published, Matthew also saw his first book for adult readers published (‘Sticky Notes: Memorable Lessons from Ordinary Moments’) and has gone on to write more books and develop a flourishing career. He is currently on leave for teaching so that he can write more and take the time to go to different places around the country to give author visits as well as keynote addresses.

Matt Sprouts and the Curse of the Ten Broken Toes is the first book in the Matt Sprouts series by Matthew Eicheldinger. Whether you’re a younger reader or want to get this to share with the younger readers in your life, this is a fun story that you won’t want to miss out on that brings to mind the fun of the ‘Wimpy Kid’ series.

Main character Matt Sprouts injures his neighbor by accident and as a result believes that he has ‘the Curse’. This is a myth in his hometown that potentially ruins the lives of middle school students. In order to beat the curse, Matt feels like he needs to solve this mystery and do so in a quick and timely manner.

However, that’s not going to be as easy to accomplish as he would like. Matt is not only going into middle school, he is doing his best to keep track of his little brother while bringing down the best soccer team and doing his best not to break any more toes.

Matt Sprouts may just be 12 years old, but he already knows that he is in big trouble. He had no intentions of hurting Jenna, his neighbor, with a martial arts move. It just kind of happened. He doesn’t know what to do with this incident but feels like the worst thing that could really happen to him is that he gets grounded. He’s about to find out how wrong he really is about that.

When the incident gets bigger and bleeds into more unfortunate events happening, everything agrees that the reason is clear. Matt has gotten the Curse. The local myth has apparently struck before, as various middle school kids have also contracted ‘the Curse’ and have had their lives ruined as a result.

Even if the Curse were not enough, going into sixth grade seems to be just as mysterious. The teachers are odd, he has a strange girlfriend, and he would just love for his toes to stop breaking.

Matt decides to take matters into his own hands. He only has to break the Curse before all of his own bones break. Can he do it and find a way to get rid of ‘the Curse’ that everyone seems to believe is real? Or is he doomed to deal with this forever? Read this fun first book in the series to find out.

Matt Sprouts and the Day Nora Ate the Sun is the second book in the Matt Sprouts series by Matthew Eicheldinger. If you thought that the first book in this series was a lot of fun, then check out the sequel as well and see what you think of it.

Matt Sprouts has returned to take on another amazing adventure. Matt was able to successfully defeat the Curse in the last story and now a few months have gone by. Now readers will follow along as Matt takes on his newest challenge, something known as Nora the goat.

People who have spent time with goats before will understand that it is a very high maintenance job to babysit a goat. Matt has now taken the Curse down, so it seems like looking after a goat is going to be no problem. He’s 12 and his dad wants him to build some character, which means that he’s going to be pet sitting for Farmer Jed, his neighbor.

Matt just wanted to relax, but now he has to deal with this new gig. But thankfully he is not going to be on his own. He has his girlfriend Grace and his brother Elliott by his side as well as his best friend Eric and even some kid who appears to live in the forest.

Nora is the pet, an older goat that has a short tail and glassy eyes. Farmer Jed thinks that she’s special but Matt doesn’t really see it. Can he babysit this goat while helping his girlfriend with her science fair project, going to practice for soccer and cross country, and doing his best to avoid ‘Jason’, a guy who appears to want revenge? When is he going to have time to relax? Read this second book in the series by Matt Eicheldinger to find out.
