Read the book and then follow up with the movie in this compelling story that is intended for young adults but can be read and enjoyed by anyone! If you loved books like The Fault in Our Stars, A Walk to Remember, or Tuesdays with Morrie, this might be a great pick for you.

When two teens start to fall for each other, there’s just one small problem in the way. They are unable to be within a few feet of each other without putting their lives on the line. Would you be able to sustain a connection where you cannot touch?

Main character Stella Grant is someone who likes to have control over things. Perhaps this is because she has spent so much of her life feeling out of control. She has been totally at the mercy of her lungs for what feels like forever. The malfunctioning lungs have kept her inside and out of hospitals for most of her life at this point.

By now, Stella has a clear idea of what the protocol is. The thing that she needs to control most for her health is keeping herself well away from people or things that might give her an infection. Catching something could endanger her chance at getting a successful lung transplant. The rule is simple and easy to follow: stay five feet apart from everybody, no matter what.

Then there’s Will Newman, who doesn’t have as much of a desire for control. He doesn’t really care too much about the treatments that he is getting or a new clinical drug trial coming out. He’s looking forward to turning eighteen, at which time he will have the chance to finally unplug himself from the machines and go see something other than the hospital for once. Will is tired of it all and just wants to see the world.

Stella and Will meet and hit it off, but the problem remains that they cannot be close to each other. He’s just the type of person that she needs to stay far away from because even breathing on her means that her spot on the transplant list could disappear in a poof of smoke. The bigger risk is that they are dangerous to each other– either of them could die if they decide to ignore the rule and get closer than five feet.

It appears that the best way for both of them to stay alive is to continue to maintain that distance. But that is tough to do when they both feel so connected. Five feet used to feel like the safe thing to do for Stella. She’s finding that the more time that goes by, the more that the space rule feels like a punishment.

More than that, Stella and Will feel more alive when they are with each other. Suddenly they start to realize that they want to be together and how much the space between them is affecting them. Can they stay away from each other to protect their health or will the two young people decide that some things are more important? Read this compelling novel to find out.

Time After Time is a 2025 fictional novel for young adults by Mikki Daughtry. This book was a USA Today bestseller and a Good Morning America YA Book Club Pick. This is a sapphic romance intended for young adult readers but can be read and enjoyed by anyone.

Libby is 19 years old and she has always felt attracted to the old Victorian house that sits on Mulberry Lane. There’s just something about it that makes her feel drawn to it. When she sees that the front yard now features a ‘For Sale’ sign, she decides that it has to be hers.

Libby’s grandmother left her some money– but that cash was meant to pay for college. Regardless, Libby buys it with intentions of fixing it up, despite the fact that her parents are going to be very upset about it.

Not long after she moves in, Libby finds a journal written by a woman named Elizabeth Post. The woman lived in the house almost a hundred years later, and the journal entries are juicy. She quickly finds that Elizabeth was majorly in love with Patricia, her personal maid. But the feelings of the time meant that the love was forbidden, and more than that, dangerous to pursue.

Tish is just going by the house one day and feels the need to knock on the door. Libby offers the broke college student a room in trade for helping her to fix up the house a little. It soon appears to be a case of history repeating when the two young ladies discover that they are falling for each other.

Libby keeps reading the journal, and she can’t help but notice that the couple have a lot in common with Libby and Tish. Is this the first time they have ever been in this house? Or is this a love that has been here before? Can their passion finally be requited and can they get it right this time? Read Time After Time by Mikki Daughtry to find out!
