Nathan Gregg
Nathan Gregg is a writer that writes stuff. Go figure.
He is also an avid reader of fantasy, a passable singer and guitarist, a moderately addicted gamer, and the exhausted owner of a stubborn elderly cat that believes the whole entire house is his litter box.
Nathan pens fantasy novels that he’d want to read in the hopes that other people enjoy reading them too. He hopes to also one day do this writing gig full time as he pursues his real passions of “not starving” and “paying rent”.
Do feel free to grab one of his books and have a wonderful time, you will be helping him in this little endeavor.
“A New Start” is the first novel in the “Remedial Magic” series and was released in 2022. Aldric, as a forgotten and washed up sorcerer, only has one goal in life: get drunk enough to just forget all about his tragic past. Up until his friends are able to coerce him into a teaching job at one of the most prestigious magic academies in all the world. Now he is saddled with the responsibility of teaching these four new pupils, each of whom wonder who this unorthodox yet brilliant man really is.
However his past demons are not gone. They have just been lying in wait. While wars, politics, and rulers all start catching up with him, his newfound place to belong gets threatened by the very things that he has been attempting to escape.
It is time for Aldric to confront his past finally. And learn a few new lessons himself.
“Snakes in the Grass” is the second novel in the “Remedial Magic” series and was released in 2022. Aldric’s position as a professor of magic at Nevis Academy has given the man a home at long last. However between the upcoming mage tournament and his students wanting to know everything and anything about him, he cannot help but be filled with unease. They have already been attacked, after all. Could they truly be safe? Foolish question.
Aldric, even after all these years, somehow forgot all about the world’s oldest truths; that everybody is looking for their own angle and nothing is like it appears. He has no idea who his real enemies even are, or who he can trust. To top it all off, all three warring countries are coming together for the very first time in decades.
Aldric had better have meant it when he said that he would prepare his new family for the worst. Because they will soon be tested.
“Step By Aching Step” is the third novel in the “Remedial Magic” series and was released in 2022. Where do you even begin telling Aldric’s story? Legends are whispered by both noble and commoner alike, filled with fantastical claims about Rhagia’s Guardian Demon and the guild master from the Golden Workshop. But he was not always like this. He was once a boy, just a child like any other. Too many of the tales forget this.
Brilliant yet flawed. Noble yet scorned. This good heart haunted by the horrible demons. So, let’s start at the beginning. Before all of the battles, legends, and the discoveries that’d move nations to act. Before our hero became the washed-up drunk, wallowing in his failure and grief. And, obviously, before he met her.
“A Dream’s Price” is the fourth novel in the “Remedial Magic” series and was released in 2024. If only they had known what they would lose.
There is still quite a lot to say about Aldric’s origins. This disgrace turned hero and royal bodyguard is just half of the story, if you can believe it.
There is still the part about the savior that pulled a city from out of the dirt and polished it into this gleaming jewel. The friend that left the one and only home he’d ever known in order to chase down a long forgotten dream. The adventurer that forever changed all that knew him without even meaning to.
However dreams are not free. And you never truly know the cost until fate has arrived, wanting to collect.
You cannot judge Aldric until the story is fully over. He is a Demon, hero, and possibly even a monster all wrapped into one. However he’s also a man. And every man fails at least once.
May you know this beloved professor fully. And may you find it within yourself in order to forgive him.
This is the second part of a two part prequel of this series. It’s highly recommended that you read all of the books in order before you continue with the series. So make sure you read the first 2 novels before reading the prequel novels.
“The Last Abyssal Heir” is the first novel in the “First Steps” series and was released in 2023. Being an IT tech was all that Jay believed he’d ever know. So when he gets kidnapped and brought to this strange world for the entertainment for some so-called “deities”, well you can imagine his surprise.
He had never even contemplated gods before now, however now he has to compete in order to become one in the Celestial Tournament. He only has to make sure that he does not die to some bloodthirsty monsters, some morally bankrupt contestants, and falling down dark chasms along the way. It’s a good thing that this world operates just like the RPGs that he has always loved playing, complete with some bizarre new powers and an omnipresent System that runs it all.
Just one problem. Losing means death, and there’s no restarts. Only way out is to win, and the only way to win is to spill blood, others as well as his own. That is what the new and mysterious voice stuck in his head continues telling him. This voice whose mere presence may just be against tournament rules.
Reader discretion is advised. This book mentions sexual assault, contains a ton of violence, and people being in a pretty bad situation doing whatever they must in order to survive.
