Nick Roberts is a published American author.

He is a native of the state of West Virginia. Today, he belongs to the Horror Writers Association as an active member in addition to the Horror Authors Guild.

Today, the author resides in South Carolina, along with his family. He enjoys advocating for people who are in recovery from substance use disorder.

For as far back as the author can remember, he was always doing something creative. He was constantly reading, drawing, watching movies, and writing his own stories and screenplays. Besides being an active film buff, he spent much of his childhood hanging out with friends in the neighborhood, playing soccer, playing basketball, and working his way towards Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

Like many other people from Appalachia, Nick struggled with substance use disorder during his teen years and his early twenties. Education and sports were nearly forgotten, as drinking and using drugs worked his way into his life and took hold of it.

In 2012, Nick looked to get treatment at Recovery Point West Virginia. Since then, he has been able to live a sober life that is taken one day at a time. He had the support of family and friends, and was encouraged not only to go on with his education but to help others as well. Nick went back to college, graduating from Marshall University with his BA in English as well as an MA in teaching. He also received an EdD in Leadership Studies, while also minoring in the field of criminal justice as well as history and Latin.

While at school, Nick was able to not only hold a job but start a family. He married Amy, the love of his life. He helped to raise Keagan, his stepson, as well as Cora and Jack, his other two children. He would work as an English teacher from 2018 to 2024 in West Virginia. He also spent weekends and nights writing as well as publishing, working hard until he finally became a full time author.

Roberts is also a hybrid author, meaning that he collaborates with publishing houses while simultaneously releasing titles through Spooky WV LLC, his company. He has contributed his work to a variety of websites, literary magazines, and anthologies. The majority of his short works can be found in his collections, ‘It Haunts the Mind & Other Stories’ and the collection ‘Nocturnal by Nature & Other Stories’.

Nick has enjoyed many highlights throughout the course of his career. He has not only enjoyed being an international bestselling author, but he has also seen his writing translated into a variety of languages. He also won Debut Novel of the Year from the 2021 Horror Authors Guild Awards. Roberts made the Preliminary Ballot for the 2022 Bram Stoker Awards for Superior Achievement in a Novel and would go on to win the 2023 Books of Horror Indie Author Brawl as well as an Indieverse and a variety of Golden Scoop Awards.

Roberts also has some film and television projects in development, so fans should keep an eye out for upcoming adaptations.

More than anything, Bryan and Ellie are hoping for a new start for Derrick, their young son. He was the one who saw most of the tumult and chaos that took place in the first few years that they were married. These were the years that were full of rage as well as substance abuse and resentment.

Despite all of this, the couple has their own hopes for the future. But their bright hope for what it may be may end up getting darker when they find that a child has gone missing from their neighborhood. It seems that any child going missing could just as easily have been their own. Like others, they are looking for answers about what may have happened to this child.

In their lens of suspicion, the couple ends up suspecting a resident who is reclusive with a degenerative brain disorder. Odd events start to occur in their house, going on just as Derrick informs his parents that he has a new friend who is apparently visiting him at night.

The two cannot figure out whether their son is potentially acting out thanks to the things he has been through in the past, or if he is an obsession of something that is turning out to be far more sinister.
