Nicole Dykes is a bestselling author of new adult romance, gay romance, and general romanceShe published her debut novel “Unsocial” of the “Monroe Family” series of novels in 2016 and has never looked back since.
The author now has more than 50 works to her name. Her fiction is spread across at least nine series of novels, single-standing novels, short stories, and novels in addition to contributing to collections of short fiction and series by other authors.
Over the years, she has developed a reputation for penning emotional and angsty novels that sometimes make her readers cry. She also loves to call herself a professional assistant and mother to two beautiful girls in addition to being a wife.
When she is not writing her very popular fiction novels, she can usually be found reading, swimming travel and for the most part just hanging out with her husband and her daughter.
Dykes has always wanted to be a fiction author but ultimately, it was the desire to start a family that made her quit her day job. Since she was no longer working, she decided to embark on her writing career.
Once she started she just got into it, learning the ropes and ins and outs of writing and publishing as she went along. At a very young age and when she was in her teenage and young adult years, she loved reading all manner of romance fiction.
What drew her to romance fiction writing as an adult was her belief that love is something that all people have in common.
Regardless of the different ways we usually love and the many ways we can mess things up and the ways we can redeem ourselves and come back, she was fascinated by it.
Even though she has come to be known as one of the most prolific authors in the romance genre, she considers being a featured author on the Romance Reveal book box.
As for her inspiration, Nicole Dykes was into Faye Kellerman for the longest time while she was a student in high school.
During those early years, there was nothing that she loved more than mystery, even though she would transition and add several other genres into her repertoire.
Later on, she would get into romance fiction and now her favorite authors are Jay Crownover and Krista Ritchie.
Nicole Dykes “Keeper” is an interesting work that tells the story of Camden and Kingston who could not be closer as friends. However, Camden has been in love with Kingston for several years but the latter is not aware of it.
They usually do everything together but they know it is inevitable that they will be separated since they have wildly different goals.
All that Cam wants is to leave the small-town prejudices and mentality to head to college. On his part, Kingston has decided that he will stay and begin working.
Ultimately they are separated in an emotional scene that will leave you hurting and tearing up for them.
Another interesting plotline is that of Cam who wants to gain experience as he is still a virgin. Meanwhile, Kingston is having issues with his self-confidence after his girlfriend told him that his sexual performance was below par.
At some point, Kingston decided to try and become gay for the sake of Camden who needs the experience badly.
While he initially gets into the relationship as a favor to Cam, once things get steamy they seem to be so perfect for each other that it is baffling how they could have ever imagined that they would just remain friends.
“Guarded” by Nicole Dykes is another interesting work that opens with the lead characters Garrison and Jameson at odds with each other.
Garrison is a man that Jameson never liked, even if they are both members of their high school team. He thinks he is nothing more than a big mouth that could not be any more dumb.
He also takes everything lightly while Jameson only knows about being serious. When Garrison stumbles upon him in a very compromising situation, things do not go so well. Jameson is terrified that Garrison is going to reveal his secret to the world.
But as the weeks go by and Jameson does not let out his secret despite being very hostile, he thinks maybe he never will. The thing is Garrison has his own secret and since he knows about Jameson he wants to explore too and his target is Jameson.
The biggest angst in the novel is all about the fact that both Jameson and Garrison live in a small town that is hostile toward the LGBTQ community.
There is also the fact that both of these two characters have fathers who may not take the news that their sons are gay particularly well.
“Defender” by Nicole Dykes is one of the most interesting novels in the Kensley Panters series of novels. The lead in the novel is Travis a gay man who lives in a very small town.
He had not been selected for a prestigious scholarship which would have made it possible to leave town and find a place that could have afforded him better possibilities.
He now works with Oakley at a landscaping company following his graduation. Oakley is known for being a carefree, sunny, and simple guy who has dreams about his future that does not include living in the city.
He has never been in any relationship with a guy and does not yet intend to settle down. At some point, he realized that he was attracted to Travis his coworker and friend, and asked him if he would be interested in a friends-with-benefits relationship.
Since Travis has a shortage of opportunities in the small town they live in, he agrees to the proposal. They soon get into an exclusive and very steamy friends-with-benefits relationship.
Oakley is very protective of Travis right from the start but will their love be enough to make Travis stay since he has always dreamed of going to college and then finding a job in the big city?
