She had her first encounter with a ghost when she was five. Later she would interact with an active crime scene where she was in Manhattan and stepped into a chalk outline on the sidewalk by accident.
She has pursued a degree in criminology and criminal justice. Now she has at last discovered a way to funnel all that she loves about the supernatural and everything she loves about writing into supernatural mystery stories with a touch of humor.
Olivia Blacke is the creator and author of the Brooklyn Murder Mystery series and the Record Shop Mystery series. When she grows up, she would like to be a unicorn. She belongs to International Thriller Writers as well as Sisters In Crime.
She has lived everywhere from Hawaii to Maine. She lives with her husband and their dog, but will always have a longing in her heart for New York City. She loves writing, reading a good book, being on social media, crocheting, scuba diving, collecting tattoos, and baking cookies– for her dog.
Killer Content is the first book in the Brooklyn Murder Mystery series by Olivia Blacke. In this book, murder might be about to go viral.
Odessa Dean has transplanted to Brooklyn from the Bayou and she’s trying to adapt to life there. She’s got a lot to learn but she is busy trying to learn about it. She has been able to get herself an apartment in a really nice neighborhood rent free thanks to cat-sitting.
Odessa is also working at Untapped Books & Cafe, where she sells books and craft beers. It’s a really easy gig, but when it comes to making a bunch of new friends or figuring out how to ride the subway, it might take her a while.
Things are about to take a turn for the worse when a waitress dies. The death just happens to be caught on camera, captured in the background of a proposal flash-mob video for a couple. Bethany’s death seems strange to Odessa for a few reasons.
She’s picking up clues and looking askance at the fact that she suddenly decided to leave in the middle of her shift. Bethany was set to be a star on YouTube and was already doing well. She had her fair share of supporters as well as haters who want her to fall.
Odessa knows that this waitress was murdered, and she’ll do whatever it takes to catch the killer. Will she be able to find the killer before Odessa goes all the way offline? Read this story to find out!
No Memes of Escape is the second book in the Brooklyn Murder Mystery series by Olivia Blacke. If you liked the first book in the series, keep the adventure going by picking up this cozy mystery!
Odessa Dean never thought that she would be a detective, but it turns out that she’s quite good at her new amateur sleuth gig. She is about to find out that the only thing more difficult than being in an escape room and finding her way out is being in Brooklyn and trying to track down an affordable apartment.
Odessa was a transplant to Brooklyn, and now that she’s here, she’s made it a home. She has a great job waiting tables at Untapped Books & Cafe. She also has managed to make friends. Now she gets the chance to explore the city along with her pal Izzy.
So when she is invited to come on a girls’ day out adventure in the form of an escape room, Odessa says yes. She thinks it’s a great chance to have some fun and get to know some new people. Everything’s going well until the lights are turned on.
That is when the group discovers that one of the girls didn’t make it. They were bludgeoned to death, and the kicker is that it most likely was one of them. There were only Odessa and the four other people in the escape room with her, and they were all locked in.
Odessa doesn’t like this idea though and doesn’t want to believe that one of her group could have carried out the murder. Even though there are clues that indicate that one of them clearly did it. Odessa takes on shifts at the cafe and between that divides her time sitting down to interview the various murder suspects, update the social media accounts for the bookstore, and look for an apartment in the area that she can actually afford.
Crime and high rent are always going to be out there. Can Odessa get the job done and make sure that she and Izzy are not suspects in this murder? Can she actually figure out who the real killer is? Read this book to find out!
