Author Paula Quinn is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling novelist who writes medieval and Scottish historical romance genre. Quinn chose to write mainly about Highlanders and Scottish history because of her fascination with the history, beauty, and culture the country has.

Paula Quinn is the author many series. She is the author of the “Risande Family” series, the “MacGregors” series, the “MacGregors: Highland Heirs” series, and the “Children of the Mist” series, and the “Rulers of the Sky” series. She also writes fantasy romance novels under the pseudonym of Genevra Thorne.

She has been nominated for Storyteller of the Year by RT Book Reviews. Each of her “Children of the Mist” books have gotten Top Picks from RT Book Reviews.

“Ravished by a Highlander” is the first novel in the “Children of the Mist” series and was released in the year 2010. Davina Montgomery is not an ordinary English lady. She has been locked away from the rest of society, so that she can be protected, and her true identity is the most closely guarded secret the Crown has. She is shockingly betrayed and boldly rescued; it lands her into a fierce Highlander’s arms. He is a powerful warrior who has a searing gaze and touch that tantalizes. Robert MacGregor is the firstborn of a Scottish laird with a lot of power, and has no loyalty to the English throne. That being said, he is not the type to leave a woman in distress, even if she happens to be English. He makes it his duty to deliver Davina safely, unharmed and untouched.

One stolen kiss has them both smoldering with desire and wanting more. Davina has a secret that will threaten his clan. Rob must pick between all that he holds dear and the only woman that he cannot live without.

“Seduced by a Highlander” is the second novel in the “Children of the Mist” series and was released in the year 2010. Tristan MacGregor has made a name for himself in the Highlands as a great seducer with a silver tongue and a rogue without repentance. He is both bold and charming, he has been with many a woman in his time, but none as mysterious as the one he steals a kiss from while at the king’s court. He does not yet know that this woman is one of his clan’s biggest enemies.

Isobel Fergusson has hated the blood hungry MacGregor family since they killed her father. She learns that the handsome stranger that captivated her was one of them, she makes a vow to forget him. Tristan wants her badly and will risk it all to win her back. Her own body turns traitor at his touch. Is the one man that she has sworn off be the only one that she will ever love?

Some enjoyed getting to know the two main characters (Isobel Fergusson and Tristan MacGregor) in the book, and they were even better together, having great chemistry the entire time. Fans of the novel found this full of characters that have a lot passion and zest for life, not to mention quite a bit of drama.

“Tamed by a Highlander” is the third novel in the “Children of the Mist” series and was released in the year 2011. Connor left behind his first love in the Highlands, after he vowed to return to her after he served in the army of the king. Seven years went by, and still he serves his king, with his victories being legendary (both in the bedroom and on the battlefield).

He has never forgotten that bonnie lass he left behind. He never expected that he would see her among the royal court of Britain. She is breathtaking, beautiful, and trying to tempt him the whole entire time.

The night that Connor left, Mairi MacGregor shut Connor out of her life forever. Currently, her heart only belongs to her country, Scotland. She was a part of a clandestine alliance, she goes off to London to find out information, and finds herself seeing the one man that she swore she would not trust ever again. Her body still wants Connor’s touch, she does not forgive his betrayal. A traitor is out there, among them, as well as protect her beloved Highlands, she must join up with Connor. Even if that should mean he will capture her heart once again.

Fans of the novel enjoy reading about the wonderful cast of characters, and some like Connor right from the beginning of reading about him. Some found that the books from this series get better and better with each story they read.

“Conquered by a Highlander” is the third novel in the “Children of the Mist” series and was released in the year 2011. Colin MacGregor was taught from an early age to fight for what he believed in, his family’s honor, and his king. After spending years away from his beloved country, he desires to go back to the lush, green hills. To do so, he will have to complete one more mission for his king.

He is sent to get into the home of a traitor, and he is determined to expose the plot of treason and pull through on the battlefield. A sensual woman tempts him for other things.

Lady Gillian Dearly is well acquainted with temptation. She was cast out of her family (for having a child out of wedlock) she is now a ward of some barbarian that is conspiring against the Crown. The only thing she wants is freedom for her child and herself, no matter the cost, even if she had to sell her soul to the devil. A mysterious Highlander comes into their midst and his strength and smoldering gaze give her a hope for the future outside the walls of the castle. She is also promised a desire that is unlike any that she has ever known before. Passion is something that comes with a price attached to it.

Fans of the novel found this to be their favorite of the series, and found their hearts captured by Colin. Readers like when the romance develops from more than just lust, but things like friendship, respect, and admiration.
