Raksha Dave is a television presenter, author, and an archaeologist.
She is also the president of the Council for British Archaeology. Born August 22, 1977, she is an accomplished author with a background in archaeology. She attended the Institute of Archaeology in 1999 in London and graduated with her degree in archaeology successfully. From there, there was no turning back.
Raksha married Nigel Jeffries in 2017. Her spouse is a medieval and post-medieval pottery expert who is employed at the Museum of London.
Dave has worked excavating in London with a commercial archaeological unit with the Museum of London Archaeology Service. She has also worked in Turkey at the World Heritage Site as well as sites located in Puerto Rico and Texas.
She has appeared on television on many different programs. She has been featured as a field archaeologist from 2003 to 2013 on Time Team, recruited by Channel Four. She has also presented on Digging for Britain season 7 and presented the BBC Learning Zone Ancient Voices program on prehistory, as well as co-presented for Channel 5’s Pompeii’s Final Hours: New Evidence.
Raksha has also been herself on Inside Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace with Alexander Armstrong, The Vikings, The Great Stink of 1858, The Great Killer Smog, Digging for Treasure: Tonight, Tsunami, Jeremy Vine, Central Tonight, The Great Plague, Bone Detectives, Tut’s Final Secrets, Digging Up Britain’s Past, and more.
Dave advocates for increasing archaeologist diversity. She has served as a CBA (Council for British Archaeology) as a trustee, and has served as a patron for the Young Archaeologists Club. It was announced in 2021 that Dave would be the president of the organization for three years. She has co-founded DigVentures, an archaeological social enterprise. She also serves as a research affiliate for the Pitt Rivers Museum for the University of Oxford.
Raksha has a true passion for community work and working with the public, something she realized in London while employed by local authority. She returned to the heritage sector later and ended up developing and managing different HLF funded community projects. She has also been on the board of trustees for the Council for British Archaeology in London and has been a patron and an advocate for the Young Archaeologists club.
