Sometimes the families that look like they have it all from the outside are the ones who have some of the worst secrets hiding in their closets. Lucy Ross didn’t think that her return to her childhood summer home would be such a bid deal. She has to go back but it’s just going to be a short while at the Queens Point, Australia house. She’s simply going to go through the belongings of her grandmother who she loved so much and try to move on.

When a body shows up on the beach, it seems that the timing of her return may be no coincidence. But Lucy has no choice really about what is going on by now and is quickly involved in a murder investigation that she does not want any part of. A short stay is looking like it is going to turn into something longer now.

It may seem strange, but at the center of everything appears to be the Whitlam siblings. They are known for being wealthy and gorgeous and belonging to a glamorous family. In the beautiful coastal town, these siblings may as well be royalty. Everyone knows Mae, Harry, and Annabelle.

Nineteen years before this, the siblings had allowed Lucy into their inner circle at sixteen years old. It was so important to her to belong that she was ready to do anything that it took to maintain it once she had it. Even if this meant doing her best to ignore all of their secrets.

Now that everything has turned out to be more deadly than she would have thought, she’s forced to take a look at which means more to her. Will Lucy still prioritize the Whitlams and their influence all these years later or is she ready to head out on a path to find out what the truth really is? Read this windy thriller to find out!

The Dinner Party is a 2024 novel by Rebecca Heath. If you have been wanting to read a unique fictional story that is full of drama that erupts out of nowhere in the mundane, check out this story and see what twists and turns await for you.

Four couples join together in the summer of 1979. They are gathering in the suburban neighborhood Ridgefield, taking place during a heat wave. They have come this way to get together for their dinner party, which they hold weekly.

It was a regular evening and an opportunity for friends to go ahead and catch up together. They can show off their idealized marriages, get a break that they need from the kids. But throughout all of this normalcy that appears to be shown off, behind all of the picture windows and manicured lawns, there are secrets that are being hidden.

It’s just the start of what could turn out to be a nightmare. Frank Callaghan goes to check on the children, who the adults believe are sleeping. But in place of where his four month old daughter Megan should be fast asleep, there is instead an empty crib.

Frank is panicked and goes to check with the other people at the party, but the others there say that they didn’t see anything at all. No one had left the dinner table. Despite this, Megan is somehow gone, suddenly and without warning.

It’s been forty years down the line. Megan’s sister Amanda is haunted by the event and has been searching for any answers she can find all this time. She is surprised when a stranger ends up knocking on her front door. When Amanda answers the person says that she is Megan. No one takes her at her word right away, but their skepticism begins to disappear when they see that she is holding Megan’s blanket that was taken with her the night that she went missing.

The shocking appearance, whether the real deal or not, starts to provoke some new questions among everyone. They all start to wonder where Megan has been for all of this time and who knows what went on that night. Could it have been a random person that broke in and took her or could it have been one of the neighbors and someone that they never suspected?

Sometimes the people that we think that we know well are the same people that we should not trust. In this thriller set in the domestic suburban neighborhood, it appears that there are more secrets being hidden than one would think. Can the real Megan ever return, or is this simply a case where the answers will never fully be known? Find out by getting a copy of The Dinner Party!
