Later she earned a First Class degree in English Literature from Northumbria University. While on maternity leave she got a PGCE in English from Durham University. At age twenty one she had already launched her own company. She took home two awards from that work. One was the North East Young Entrepreneur of the Year. The other was the Artemis Award for women who inspire others in business. She also taught part time courses in Literature and Language at a school in Newcastle.
