Richard is also an editor in addition to being an author. He works at Headline as a nonfiction editor. There he works along with other authors. This is the story of a man who gets a second chance at love and life. He makes an unexpected friendship and he might be able to have it turn into something more. All of this is contingent on the white lie that years ago he told and become a whole lot more.
The daily life of Andrew’s reality is often grim. He has the job of looking for the next of kin that are related to the individuals who end up passing away alone. He is happy that he has a great family that is always there for him when he returns home. They are always ready to help take care of the worries of the day and get them to be wiped away. That’s what his coworkers seem to think.
For his part, Andrew has not bothered to disabuse them of the reality. He never intended for this misunderstanding to go on, but he has made up the white lie and gone along with it and now it appears that he is stuck in it.
At first, the fantasy of having two children and a wife became a wonderful escape from the one bedroom that he occupied. There his records featuring Ella Fitzgerald were often the only thing to keep him company. There was no family that loved him with every fiber of their being.
Then Peggy comes into his life, a new employee that shakes everything up. It’s like she’s a breath of fresh air and just like that Andrew comes out of his routine completely. She doesn’t seem to notice that he has been keeping himself away behind a wall and their friendship could be the very thing that breaks it down for good.
Now Andrew has to decide what he wants to do. He could tell the truth and let his life finally begin, while also potentially losing a good relationship with Peggy. Or he could keep the walls up and make sure that he is safe, but also ensure that he stays alone.
This is a story about a man and one of those moments where you are risking losing quite a bit. Will he be able to figure out what he wants and go for it? Read this book to find out!
When We Were Young is the second novel to come out from Richard Roper. This is the story of two friends who have been missing each other for quite some time. They decide to go on a walk of the Thames Path for 184 miles so that they can get back to the friendship that they had, as well as the truth.
When all you want in life is to go back, how do you end up moving forward? Theo and Joel turned sixteen years old one summer, and they have not spoken to each other since. They might not have been in touch for a while, but that is about to change for the two of them.
Joel is now someone who looks like a television scriptwriter from the outside. He has a hit on television and of course he is in love with Amber, his teenage sweetheart. But even though everything looks so together, it is totally falling apart.
Now Joel is on his way home to get back together with Theo, his best friend, and try to find out where it all started and get back there in some way. Things have not been going well for Theo. He has been living in a shed at his parents and he has been dealing with his ego as well as a broken heart.
Things feel like they just could not get any worse, and Theo is really down in the dumps. Everything starts to get even worse from there when on his thirtieth birthday he is kicked out. Talk about feeling like nothing is going right for you at all and not even knowing about how to pick yourself up from there.
It appears that Theo is completely done with dealing with the real world. But when it shows up on his front door, he doesn’t know what to think about it. He does know that one of them might have a secret, and the other one has a lie that they are living.
Is the promise that they made all of those years ago to walk the Thames Path and go for all 184 miles something that they can still keep? If they decide to go through with it and keep the promise, are Theo and Joel guaranteed to find their way back to a deeper truth as well as the friendship that they once shared? Find out by picking up a copy of When We Were Young by Richard Roper and finding out what happens with these two former friends!
