Rob Reger is an author and artist best known for creating the character of Emily the Strange.
Reger’s friend Nathan Carrico designed the character of Emily in 1991 for a skateboard company in Santa Cruz. This is where Cosmic Debris was born. In his Santa Cruz garage and later an artist warehouse in San Francisco, Reger came up with these designs.
With Matt Reed, Reger was able to bring the designs of Emily the Strange into the fashion world by creating t-shirt designs that were able to capture the essence of this mysterious young girl with four black cats. Ever since then, Cosmic Debris has grown into a multi-million dollar firm with dozens of employees.
Cosmic Debris has moved its operations to Berkeley, California. They also plan to open an Emily retail store there. With the momentum of its mainstream success, several comics about Emily have also been made.
There have been key creative people over the years who have worked with the Cosmic Debris design house, such as Grace Fontaine, Liz Baca, Brian Brooks, Buzz Parker, Noel Tolentino, Jessica Gruner, Fawn Gehweiler, Nicomi “Nix” Turner and Adele Pedersen. Rob Reger is the key creative force behind the brand of Emily the Strange and Buzz Parker is the key illustrator for the comic books and website.
Emily the Strange: The Lost Days is the first book in the series. There isn’t much to describe about the first books, but it does include a list of the thirteen elements that a reader will find in the first Emily the Strange novel.
These include: mystery, a beautiful golem, souped-up slingshots, four black cats, amnesia, calamity poker, angry ponies, a shady truant officer, top thirteen lists, a sandstorm generator, doppelgangers, a secret mission, and earwigs.
Stranger and Stranger is the second book in the Emily the Strange series by Rob Reger. If you get the full book, you can get the full impact of all of the details!
Until then, Emily is: a mad scientist, a cat lover, a mural painter, a golem builder, a virtuo-spastic guitarist, a wicked skater, a witty troublemaker, a poltergeist tamer, a mystery solver, a master prankster, an extreme procrastinator, a happy loner, and a unique individual!
