The Simp: A Novel Without a Hero is a 2026 book by Roshan Sethi. This is a book that is a story without a hero and features a hellscape that has an infinity pool. Raj Ladlani is an unemployable actor and is one of thousands. While he believes that he is really talented, as his acting coach Anthony says he is, he feels that he basically is a legend in just about every way that you can be– except for the success.
He leads a life of being anonymous. He works at Yogurtland, reads Vanity Fair obsessively, and goes to bed dreaming about being a star. It all comes to a conclusion when he answers a job ad that talks about an endless list of responsibilities that must be dealt with for a Hollywood family. This is how Raj Ladlani’s decline and fall begins.
This story talks about how Raj gets employed and then the destruction that comes after the time that he has spent with the H Jim, a director who is very macho and wants to prove himself as an artist, and Anna, his younger wife who has her own ambitions.
When the job shows itself to be a strange and absurd journey through domestic chaos and different engagements with identity politics, Raj feels like he might be about to publicly lose it. Can he keep himself together or will he find that it is all too much? Read The Simp to follow along with every word!
