Are You Sara? is the debut book from author S.C. Lalli. This book has been highly praised by readers and critics alike. Wendy Walker, author of Don’t Look For Me, loved the book and called Lalli a ‘fresh voice’ in the genre of thriller as well as a writer ‘to watch’.

When two women who both have the name Sara decide to get into a ride share, and only one of them arrives home with a beating heart, which of them was intended to be the true target?

Saraswati Bhaduri is a law student who is working hard. She has two jobs that she is managing just to try and pay her way through school. Despite all of this, things are still a struggle. Times are tough and things aren’t as easy to pay for as they once were.

She’s always been perceived as a nice Indian girl, but she also has to do things at her jobs that other people would never expect. It’s just another day at work when her boss tells her that she has to go to the bathroom and deal with a drunk girl. Nothing out of the ordinary for a shift at the dive bar, just another Tuesday night (where things are admittedly pretty busy).

It’s her job, so naturally Sara goes out and deals with it. However, upon meeting the girl and finding out that they share the same first name, they immediately bond. The girls are quickly friends and even though they may be different people in different life circumstances, the connection is real.

Then they both order their ride shares to go home at the end of the night and get into their respective cars, heading out to what should be home. Everyone knows that the standard protocol for ride shares by now is to ask if they’re the ride share and then say your name, as in, ‘for Sara?’, and then get in the car once they confirm.

In this case, both of the girls would have asked if their ride share was for ‘Sara’, seeing how it’s both their names. Even though they’re spelled differently, they sound the same when you’re saying them. Each driver would have thought that they were taking the Sara that they were looking for into their car as a client.

But when the dive bar employee wakes up in her ride share, she’s confused. She’s somehow ended up on the wealthier side of town. That’s when she realizes that she took the wrong ride home. This car was for Sarah with an ‘h’.

Sara goes back to her apartment by foot since she doesn’t have any money to pay for a ride there. But once she arrives, she starts to see that something horrible has happened. Sarah is lying on her doorstep not moving, and the police are already there, with lights flashing.

One of them either ran into a horrible accident or the wrong end of a plan gone right. The only question that remains is whether Sara Bhaduri was supposed to be targeted or whether Sara Ellis was the central target. The motive as to the killing, however, still remains.

With plenty of twists and turns, readers will be turning the pages to find out what happens next in this thriller from S.C. Lalli!

The Plus One is the second fictional book to come out from S.C. Lalli. She brings readers yet another thriller that fans of White Lotus will love!

Two business moguls who are getting ready to be married in what is shaping up to be the social event of the year. But when they are both discovered dead the day before their wedding is supposed to take place, there’s no other conclusion to draw but the fact that it’s murder.

Now someone who is used to being on the outside must take on the mystery and figure things out before her own agenda gets shared. Radhika Singh and Raj Joshi joining together was such a huge deal. It was going to be a week long event, hosted in Cabos at a top of the line luxury resort.

The marriage was to be the union of two Indian-American families who were extremely wealthy. Here no expense was put to the side for rest and relaxation, for events, for enjoyment, for celebrating the love of the couples and the coming together of two families.

Shaylee Kapoor was not exactly on the inside of things when it comes to this event. Still, she was dating Raj’s best friend and was there as sort of a coincidence of timing of being with Caleb Prescott III. So it is that Shay is witness to this world of excess and wealth.

The wedding festivities are due to start in the morning, but before that can happen, the wedding coordinator makes the horrible discovery that Radhika and Raj are dead. It’s not just a horrible accident, either. It’s definitely intentional, as the resort wedding coordinator can attest, since they both have died of gunshots to their head.

The guests are shocked and most of them are either sent home or turned away. Shay stays with Caleb and keeps an ear open as more of the investigation gets going. Early on there are some accusations thrown around, but no one knows for certain what’s going on.

Meanwhile, the police are looking into what they think could be a hit by the cartel. But the killer needed a key to get into the hotel room, whether they were a cartel member or not. There were only a few people present with keys. Zara, sister of Radhika, had one. Caleb and Sean, the best men, had keys. Lastly, Daniela, the wedding coordinator, also had a key in her possession.

While she may be on the outside, and has her own secrets, she also might be the only guest present with enough distance to figure out what’s true and what’s a lie. Can she also deduce who would have wanted the happy couple dead? Read this mystery from S.C. Lalli to find out!
