Sandra Kitt is an American published author.

She has written several novels that include Significant Others, The Color of Love, and Close Encounters, as well as The Millionaires Club series. She has also penned several short stories. Her work has been popular with readers and was featured on the Essence and Blackboard bestseller lists.

The Color of Love came out in 1995 and was optioned by Lifetime and HBO from a script by Sandra. Significant Others was picked as one of the Top 25 Romances for the 20th Century. Her book Close Encounters was named as one of the Top 10 Contemporaries for 2000.

Kitt’s work has been nominated for the NAACP Image Award in Fiction (the nominated book in question was a HarperCollins anthology titled Girlfriends). It has also been featured on the Essence and Blackboard bestseller lists. Sandra has received many awards for her work, including the Romantic Times Lifetime Achievement Award and the Zora Neale Hurston Literary Award.

Sandra is a native New Yorker and was not always a writer. Previously she has worked as a graphic designer and created cards for UNICEF. She has also illustrated books and has exhibited her own work, which is featured in the Museum of African American Art in Los Angeles.

She has also been a managing director of the Richard S. Perkin Collection in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History.

Sandra is the first black writer to be published with Harlequin. She also launched the Arabesque line that was acquired by Harlequin (now under the Kimani Press imprint). Kitt has received two Lifetime Achievement Awards by this time and also received the 2002 Service Award from the Romance Writers of America.
