Sandy Appleyard is a Canadian romance fiction novelist known for her engaging romance fiction that combines elements of personal growth and suspense. Like many novelists, Sandy loved writing from when she was still very little. It was while she was in middle school that she got interested in writing and began penning short stories. This would ultimately turn into a love for short biographies and poetry writing before she got into fiction writing. Appleyard would progress over the years writing better and better manuscripts until she published her debut work of fiction The Message in Dad’s Bottle novella in 2010.

It was after she had written her first two works that Sandy started believing that she had it in her to become an author. Since her first two were memoirs, she initially believed that she would become a biography and memoirist but fate had something very different in store for her. One night, she decided to take A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks to bed where she read it while munching on a bag of cheese. When Appleyard woke up the following morning, she had the idea for Blessed and Betrayed her first novel in her mind. To ensure she did not lose the idea, she immediately put it down on the notes app on her phone and began writing a few days later. After she published her debut novel, she finally realized that she had more talent than just being a memoirist.

Balancing a full-time job with writing, Sandy Appleyard has more than 50 works of fiction to her name across various genres and formats. When she is producing steamy romances, she usually writes under the pseudonym Sandra Alex and writes on motifs such as billionaire romance, medical romance and rock star romance. Throughout her career, she has received many accolades for her work including Readers’ Favorite 5-star ratings. Over the years, she has developed a reputation for writing heartwarming narratives that explore themes of resilience, personal growth, and love.

Outside of her writing, Sandy has held many job roles including positions in an administrative capacity and pet groomer. At some point, she was employed at a prestigious winery popular with celebrities which just goes to show the variety of her experiences and interests. The Toronto-born author now makes her home in Niagara Falls where she lives with her husband and two children. When she is not at work or writing her novels, she reads a lot and does book reviews. Her website is full of blogs about writing, inspiration, health, and social media advice. Sandy also loves to exercise and usually plays games with her children, watches movies, and goes camping from time to time. She also loves four-legged animals and regularly spends time with her much-loved cat at home and at the local animal shelter.
Sandy Appleyard published the brilliant romance fiction work The Wife of a Leser Man in 2013. The lead in the novel is Chief of Police Marke Tame of the LAPD. He is back on duty following a heart attack and is right back in charge of a team going after a serial killer spreading terror around the city. Even though he is used to dealing with unexpected challenges, he finds himself in the middle of a personal and complex mystery at home. Shelley his wife is dealing with changes in their relationship brought about by his post-heart attack behavior. This has driven her into an affair as she looks for passion outside the marriage. As he works on the case, things take an interesting turn when the evidence they unearth tells the team that the killer is targeting Shelley his wife next. The revelation combines their professional and personal lives resulting in an emotional and tense climax where both Shelley and Mark deal with the threats looming over them and confront their vulnerabilities too. It is a fascinating work that explores the intricacies of marital relationships impacted by infidelity and health crises in the backdrop of a high-stakes criminal investigation.

Yet again, Sandy Appleyard writes an intriguing romance story in Don’t Mess with Daddy’s Girl the second of the LA Cops series of novels. A work heavy on suspense and action, it tells the story of Jesica and Michael. The latter is a successful stockbroker who is clear on what he wants from life – a family, Jesica and a solid career. His wife Jesica is struggling to make anything of her life as she does not want kids, has refused to marry Michael and dropped out of college. The interesting thing is that her family knows her better than she knows herself and has arranged something for her to clear her head. She has been asked to Michael’s cousin’s wedding but this only makes her insecurities about getting married to Michael worse. She hates that he refused to sell stock which has backfired on them and angry with him she leaves the wedding before it is over to go to her parents. When she fails to arrive at her father’s house a few hours later, things take a dark turn as all hell breaks loose. It is a fast-paced story with many different storylines that Sandy brings all together in the end concisely and smoothly.

The Wheels of Change is an excellent whodunit that shows Sandy Appleyard is one of the best at mystery romances. Right from the jump, Sandy builds an intricate story that could easily have gone in half a dozen directions. Things kick off with the killing of Jake Campbell who it turns out is more than what he seemed to be at first glance. Initially, he presented as the perfect bank employee who works hard and is organized and punctual. He is well-versed about his job and no one does it better than him. The problem is that he did something to someone who got angry enough to kill him. Jake is a bachelor who liked to flirt with and date the women he worked with and he was very close to many of them. However, someone hated what Jake did and decided to knife him.
