Sophie Stava is an American published author.

Like so many other authors, Sophie is someone who has enjoyed reading for as long as she can recall. She was so passionate about reading that when the time came to attend higher learning, she decided to study English literature. She graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with her B.A. in English literature.

Sophie spent many years working a variety of day jobs before pursuing writing. She was an executive recruiter, an event planner, and a ghostwriter. Today she lives with her family in southern California.

She loves to write but when she is not busy doing that she can be discovered usually reading, being a personal assistant to her kids, or traveling. Her debut novel is Count My Lies, which is set to be adapted for Hulu as a television series that will star Lindsay Lohan.

Count My Lies is a 2025 book by Sophie Stava. This book was immensely popular with readers and critics alike! It was a Good Morning America Book Club pick and was also praised by other authors. The narrator of this story may not be all that reliable considering that she lies frequently and is a person who lets her white lies bring her into the life of a married couple who are wealthy but have secrets of their own that they want to protect. Main character Sloane Caraway tells lies. She doesn’t lie about anything big, but ends up telling little white lies here and there. She tells herself that they’re harmless, just little stories that are designed to make her life more interesting.

One day Sloane is at the park. It’s the middle of the afternoon and she glimpses the little girl in tears. She is not able to resist and so she ends up telling a fib, informing the attractive dad of the girl that she is a nurse. The girl is crying because she has gotten stung by a bee, and Sloane successfully helps the father lift the stinger from his daughter’s foot– giving her claim that she’s a nurse more credence.

Thanks to this chance encounter and the lie, Sloane ends up landing a job as a nanny for Jay and Violet Lockhart. They are both wealthy and privileged and appear to be the ideal New York couple that have everything that people in their world strive for. They have a brownstone that they live in, they summer on Block Island, and their daughter is enrolled in private school From the outside, everything seems idyllic.

However, not everything may be as picture perfect as it appears. Sloane is a liar, but she’s not the only one. It turns out that what may be projected to be so ideal is actually much more dark and dangerous underneath. Full of twists and suspense, this is one ending that is too juicy and good to reveal here.
