Stephen Buoro, born in 1993, grew up in Nigeria with a strong Catholic influence, describing the Bible as a significant part of his life. As the fourth of six children, his early years were shaped by his family’s migration from northern to southern Nigeria to escape political unrest, and he was born in Ososo. Eventually, the family returned north to Kontagora, a town that later became the backdrop for Buoro’s first novel.
Buoro discovered reading at the age of eight, despite his parents having limited formal education, thanks to his mother’s engaging storytelling.
