Steven Bartlett
Steven Bartlett was born on August 26, 1992 in Botswana to a Nigerian mom and an English dad. His dad was a structural engineer while his mom left school at the age of 7 and could not write or read.

When Steven was 2 years old, his family moved to Plymouth, England. He grew up here, attending secondary school, Plymstock School, from which he was expelled during sixth form. He went on to study at Manchester Metropolitan University, however he dropped out after just a single lecture.

He is an investor entrepreneur, and podcaster. He founded Social Chain, the social media marketing company, in 2014.

In 2017, he started “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, which has been described as an unfiltered journey into the remarkable stories and untold dimensions of the world’s most influential people, thinkers, and experts. It has quickly has become the most listened to podcasts. Spotify Wrapped ranked it in the top 5 most popular podcasts globally in 2024.

In 2021, he started appearing as an investor on “Dragons’ Den” a BBC One show. He’s one of the 5 titular “dragon” investors that aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their products/ideas and was the youngest to appear on the show.

In 2020, he was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. That same year, Steven was inducted into the Manchester Hall of Fame.

“Commonsense: A Climb To The Top To Find the Bottom” is a non-fiction book that was released in 2016. Here is a book about Steven’s journey through his working life to self-employment and running a company of his own over a 35 year span. The lessons learned, the pitfalls, the successes, sad to funny times, from being on top of the world to being just able to save his own company.

From corruption to government unemployment, thoughts about how things are done, town centers, and plain stupidity. From a world that is totally out of control with bureaucracy running rampant to this conclusion that we need to get visited by space aliens so that we can get a loan in order to just keep the world going.

Some views that Steven believes you could agree with and some that you might just totally oppose. He’s just one man on his journey through life. If you do not laugh about it, you’ll cry. He has tried incorporating some of the lessons that he’s learnt about business and potential ideas for the future. His overwhelming word throughout all of this is common sense, probably the only word which will save everybody. Writing this book enabled him to find some way to reflect, so it’s change his life for the better.

“Happy Sexy Millionaire: Unexpected Truths about Fulfillment, Love, and Success” is a non-fiction book that was released in 2021. We’re losing ourselves. We ask the wrong questions, chase the wrong things, and pollute our minds. It is time to stop that, time to resist, and is time to rethink the fundamental social blueprint which our lives are built on.

As an 18 year old broke, black, lonely, insecure, university drop out, from a bankrupt family, Steven wrote in his diary that he wanted to be a ‘Happy Sexy Millionaire’ by the time he was 25. By 25, he was a multi-millionaire having created a business which was worth more than $300 million. Ironically, in achieving everything he had set out to, he learned that he was wrong about just about everything. The world had lied to him. It lied to him about how you attain fulfillment, success, and love, why any of these things matter, and what such words truly mean.

In this book, he will dismantle the most popular, unaddressed lies about happiness which we have all been led to believe. He will expose the source of such lies, examine the incentives which fuel them and replace them with a practical set of unconventional and scientifically proven ideas which will help you live a truly fulfilled life, one that is full of the success you deserve and the love you seek.

Steven’s got an excellent writing style and tells his own unique story in such a fantastic way. Some of the principles and ideas are quite interesting as well, and the book is thorough and well researched. It is a breath of fresh air and some real talk that’s been needed in society for quite awhile.

“The Diary of a CEO: The 33 Laws of Business and Life” is a non-fiction book that was released in 2023. This is a galvanizing playbook for success from one of the world’s most exciting entrepreneurs and the host of “The Diary of a CEO”, the #1 podcast.

At the core of all the failure and success Steven’s been exposed to (both his own entrepreneurial journey and through the thousands of interviews he’s conducted on his podcast) are this set of principles which ensure excellence.

These fundamental laws underpinned his meteoric rise, and they’ll fuel yours as well, whether you want to build something great or become somebody great. These laws are rooted in behavioral science and psychology, in his experiences, and those of the world’s most successful writers, artists, entrepreneurs, entertainers, and athletes, all who he’s interviewed for his podcast.

These laws are going to stand the test of time and are going to help anybody master their own life and will help unleash their full potential, no matter what the field is. They are the secret sauce to success.

The book was shortlisted at The British Book Awards for Book of the Year after it became the quickest selling personal development book since records began. It has been translated into 35 languages and was a Sunday Times Number 1 bestseller.

There is some valuable perspectives and knowledge in this well researched book with quotes from people at the top of their fields. The writing is to the point without ever wasting a single word. Steven is teaching and inspiring without ever getting preachy at any point. And it feels as though he’s trying to actually help and advise other people, not just writing from or for his own ego.
