Tarah DeWitt
Tarah DeWitt is a mom, wife, and author. In 2020, she felt as though she had devoured every romcom that was available to her, she indulged herself in writing bits and pieces of her own.
Eventually, all of these ramblings from the Notes app on her phone turned into her debut novel.
She loves stories that are centered around some perfectly imperfect characters. Ones that might just enough trauma to keep them funny, without ever being forcefully cavalier. Tarah believes that laughter is an essential part of romance, parenting, friendship, and life.
“Funny Feelings” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2022. When falling in love is the punchline.
Farley Jones is a chaotic, loud, and hilariously clever standup comic well on the way to stardom. Only thing she loves more than the rush that comes with telling jokes in front of some revved up audience is Meyer, her hot and older manager, although he does not have any clue. It’s agony keeping her feelings hidden from him, however Meyer has been Farley’s most treasured and closest friend, not to mention crucial to the upward trajectory of her career. She cannot risk ruining their relationship by telling him about how she really feels. After all, who else would have the patience of putting up with a hot mess like her?
Meyer Harrigan, a former standup comedy star himself and single dad, left the stage years back so that he could focus on raising Hazel, his deaf daughter. Farley has been everything to them ever since she came into their lives 3 years ago, and despite all of his disdain for public attention, his grumpiness, and his protectiveness over Hazel, he will do anything in his power to make her standup dreams come true.
While the largest opportunity of her career comes along and forces these two to fake-date so that they can stir up a bit of publicity, it does not take too long before their act brings all those other funny feelings out into the open. Like most matters of the heart, it soon starts feeling like anything but a joke.
This is a swoony story about love, friendship, and looking for the laugh in life, from the popular TikTok writer, and is perfect for the fans of Sarah Adams and B.K. Borison.
“The Co-op” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2022. They say that construction and love do not mix. By that logic, construction and hate might as well be condemned.
LaRynn Lavigne and Deacon Leeds had just one contentious and brief summer fling when they were just teenagers, definitely not something to build a foundation on. However a decade later, when their grandmas have left them shared ownership of their dilapidated Santa Cruz building, they are thrust back together and must figure out how to brace up all the pieces.
LaRynn has got the money, however in order to access her trust, she must be married. Deacon has got all the construction expertise, however he lacks the money. A deal gets struck: Marry for just long enough to fix the property up, collect a profit, and then cut ties.
Deacon and LaRynn are thrust into a home without any walls, and they soon learn that it is pretty easy to hide behind some emotional ones, even while in a marriage. However with all of the pitfalls and exposure which come with living with the opposite sex (as well as none of the persk, much to their growing mutual frustration) they will also have to discover what it really means to truly cooperate as a team.
“The Co-op” is filled with brimming tension and is a steamy second chance romance all about renovation and restoration, and uncovering all of the things which build character inside ourselves. It is about the neverending construction project that a partnership is, and finding some enjoyment at every single stage along the way.
“Rootbound” is the third stand alone novel and was released in 2023. You really cannot go back home again.
Tait Logan is rather proud of the life she has built for herself. Despite not having any genuine connections with other humans besides her sister Ava, the world shattering divorce, and the fact that the rest of her family’s estranged from her life, she’s happy. Happy-adjacent, anyway. She has rebuilt herself through her photography, which is her dream career, the one thing that she still has.
When this career contracts her to do this assignment on her estranged family’s home, Logan Range, this now famous ranch that functions as the setting for a popular television show, she is left without any choice but to agree. It is just a six week assignment, at the end of the day. Tait has zero plans to set down any roots, or get to know the family which, apparently, hasn’t had any interest in having a relationship with her ever since her parents’ divorced when she was 7.
Henry Marcum is a cowboy that’s dedicated his life to both the Logan family as well as to their ranch. He owes them for rescuing him, raising him, and giving them a purpose. Henry also owes them for every hardship that he has inadvertently brought their way. So, once Tait Logan turns up after 20 years of almost complete silence, he takes it upon himself to protect the people that he loves.
It is a pretty rocky start when Henry and Tait collide first, he’s naturally pretty wary of her intentions, and she is far more than perturbed by their quite literal collision, which results in her broken camera on her first nit on location, no less. However while the pair get to know each other a little better, they get thrown off balance again and again by their growing feelings, and by the story of the Logan family while it gets less clear from their points of view.
This is a steamy sunshine/grumpy romance which has a warm country feel to it that touches upon heartbreak, family, and whether the potential for disaster is worth the risk which accompanies love.
