In 2021, Tovah Feldshuh published her memoir Lilyville in which she chronicles her life. She grew up in Scarsdale New York during the 1950s where she used to go by Teri Sue. During that time, she used to live a life of dance lessons, piano lessons, white-gloved cultural trips, and shopping trips to Manhattan. Since she looked up to her mother who had perfect manners and a meticulous appearance, she spent much of her childhood striving for her approval and always falling short. As for her mother Lily, she was committed to Sidney her father, and strove to become the perfect mother and housewife which Tovah felt was selling herself short. When Tovah became a star with Yentl on Broadway and won several awards, she still failed to get the approval she craved from her mother. Ultimately, it was the passing of Sidney her father who had been loved by both women that finally brought Lily and Tovah together. Basking in her new independence, her mother would become an outspoken, profane, and witty woman who she could talk to about everything.

The Old Country is a work that Tovah Feldshuh published in 2005. The work is a heartfelt and humorous exploration of identity, culture, and heritage. The book was penned to parody the storytelling traditions of the Jewish community and comes with a brilliant narrator who tells some fantastic stories of life in the Old Country. Feldshuh makes use of absurdity, satire, and wit to highlight themes of the struggles of immigrant life, family, and resilience as it combines comedic exaggeration and nostalgia. Tovah intertwines universal human experiences with cultural references to make a story that is both a touching reminder of how critical it is to preserve cultural roots and a celebration of Jewish humor.
