Tracey Emerson Wood is a registered nurse and historical fiction novelist who has penned some very popular works such as The War Nurse and The Engineer’s Wife. She is known for writing that combines compelling storytelling with in-depth research while celebrating innovation and resilience.

While she went tot college and graduated as a nurse, she always dreamed of one day becoming an author even as she worked as a Registered Nurse. While working as a nurse, building her interior design company, living all over the world as a military wife, and raising children she indulged in her passion. During this time, she used to dabble in short story writing, screenwriting, and writing plays. She has also authored columns in magazines, and directed long and short plays. Some of her most known screenplays include Roebling’s Bridge and Strike Three before she published her debut novel The Engineer’s Wife. Tracey Emerson Wood was prompted to write her debut novel since she has always been passionate about women in history with some amazing stories begging to be told. It took her two and a half years to go from idea to publication. During that time, she explored the complicated relationship between Katharine and Orville Wright. She looked into the nature of their special bond and how it impacted the romantic relationships that Katharine had.

Apart from her love for writing, Tracey Emerson loves honoring military heroes, and anything to do with cooking and food. She is the co-author of a cookbook/anthology titled Homefront Cooking in which veterans from across the United States share their wisdom, wit, and most importantly their recipes. Proceeds from the work that was published in 2018 are donated to veteran organizations from the US. Born in New Jersey, she currently lives with her family in Florida and Germany and spends much of her free time traveling and cooking.

Tracey Emerson Wood published The Engineer’s Wife in 2020. The lead in the novel is Emily Roebling, a woman who will not live like anyone else. She knows what she wants and knows who she is only for her husband to ask her to give up her dreams so that he can pursue his. Her fight for women’s rights is put on hold her husband who is working on the Brooklyn Bridge as an engineer is hurt on the job. Even though she knows nothing about bridge building, her husband guides her as she takes up his role despite overwhelming obstacles and stern resistance. But as the bridge starts taking shape, she begins to wonder if she is building her husband’s legacy or her As she gets closer to finishing the bridge, Emily’s identity, principles, and marriage are under the threat of collapse. The Engineer’s wife is inspired by a true story, even as it offers a very intense picture of a woman who is changed by working on a massive project. It is a project that takes her to the freewheeling and heady temptations of P.T. Barnum, the halls of the elite in Manhattan, the suffragette riots, and the depths of the East River.

The President’s Wife is an interesting work that Tracey Emerson Wood published in 2023. The work tells the story of Edith Bolling, the socialite who is widowed but is not ready to go back into the dating pool as she would rather fill her days with travel and good friends. However, when she is courted by the charming President Woodrow Wilson, she is won over and it is not long before she is the First Lady. But for the fiercely independent Edith, she finds herself in an uncomfortable position even though she is determined to make her marriage work. It is not long before she is indispensable as she discusses policy with her husband and finds better staff for him. She becomes an important advisor even though she does not have a formal education and even goes with him to Europe when peace talks begin. However, things get very real when her husband’s health takes a downturn and she assumes the presidency of a country in turmoil. Intimate and sweeping, it is an insightful portrait of a First Lady full of courage and the many sacrifices she made to steer and protect her country during some difficult times.

Tracey Emerson Wood’s novel The War Nurse tells the story of Julia Stimson, a Superintendent of Nurses who has to recruit 65 nurses to serve on the frontlines of World War I. The young women will have to face some difficult circumstances but it is nothing like what they could have imagined when they arrive in a war hospital in France. They arrive to find soldiers with horrific battle wounds, an ineffective and convoluted system, and primitive conditions. With such circumstances, Julia will have to lead by example, even as military doctors question her place in the hospital. When the hospital is overwhelmed by trainloads of injured soldiers, she has to make some very difficult choices that may risk her career. It is an intense and emotional story that takes readers on an insightful journey across France during World War I.
