Yuto Tsukuda
Mangaka Yuto Tsukuda was born in Fukuoka, Japan on March 13, 1986. He writes the “Food Wars” series of cooking manga which has been adapted into an anime and has been adapted into languages like Chinese, Polish, and English. Yuto has also written the “Shonen Shikku” series.

Yuto won the 34th Jump Juniketsu Newcomers’ Manga Award for “Kiba ni Naru, a one-shot story.

While he was working on Food Wars, he hit a bit of a road block at one point, and one of the editors encouraged him to take a short break and write another story. He asked Yuto to write a one-off, but he had more ideas and ended up writing a second part. Then, while he wrote part two, the editor asked him to write a third part, assuming he had more ideas. This is how Ao no Rettou came about, which was just supposed to be a one part story.

Food Wars is actually the manga artist Saeki-sensei’s brainchild. He had the idea of a girl eating food, and she expresses herself about the food with ecstasy. Since Saeki’s a manga artist and wanted to focus solely on drawing, he needed another person to write the story itself, which is where Yuto came in. Since they knew each other, things went pretty smoothly. They knew each other from college, as Yuto was a year behind Saeki.

“Food Wars Volume One: Endless Wilderness” was released in the year 2013. Soma Yukihira’s father runs a tiny family restaurant in the much less savory part of town. Soma, who aims to one day surpass his dad’s culinary abilities, hones his skills each and every day until one day, out of the blue, his old man chooses to enroll Soma in this classy culinary school.

Will Soma be able to cut it in this school that prides itself on their ten percent graduation rate? And will he be able to convince the gorgeous and domineering heiress of the school he belongs there at all?

“Food Wars Volume Four: Resemblances” was released in the year 2014. Let the shokugeki start! Soma’s challenged Totsuki graduate Chef Shinomiya so that he could prevent Megumi’s pending expulsion.

But thanks to a condition leveled by Gin Dojima, the match takes an unexpected direction. With such a foolhardy challenge, could Megumi and Soma win to survive one more day?

“Food Wars Volume Five: The Dancing Chef” was released in the year 2015. The assignment is to create a brand new dish that is worthy of appearing on the high-class Totsuki Resort’s breakfast menu. In order to create their dishes, Soma and the rest of his friends used their confidence and knowledge they have built during their time at the cooking camp to pass the challenge. Everybody, that is, except Soma!

Soma’s made a critical error and finds himself behind without much time left. What could he possibly do to overcome his biggest hurdle to date?

“Food Wars Volume Six: Memories of Battle” was released in the year 2015. The contestants for the Totsuki Institute’s yearly Fall Classic have been selected! The Fall Classic, which is a decades old event, has been a grand stage for fierce cooking battles for years now.

“Food Wars Volume Nine: Diamond Generation” was released in the year 2015. The final results for the Fall Classic have started, with the theme in the first round being bento boxes. It is a battle for the egos while Soma dukes it out with Alice Nakiri.

Her bento gets rave reviews from the incredibly strict judges, however Soma invents a boxed lunch that is unlike anything that anybody has ever seen before. Then, no sooner does the first round end than the second round starts.
