Later, the situation begins to deteriorate when the female lead character in each book becomes pregnant. The book features Dillon Broderick, Chantel Miller, and Stacy Miller in the lead roles. At the story’s beginning, it is mentioned that Chantel Miller takes on a journey to go meet her estranged sister. Unexpectedly, she gets stuck in a snowstorm. Chantel prays somebody comes and rescues her. Just then, Dillon Broderick passes and sees the helpless Chantel Miller desperate to get out of the snowstorm. After rescuing Chantel, Dillon spends the next few hours to give her company until the storm passes away. And none of them realized when they came close and became intimate. That cold night created a special bond between Chantel and Miller, the one that got her pregnant. Just when she was thinking of breaking this news to Dillon and ask her to marry her, life intervenes and plays a spoil sport. Chantel’s sister, Stacy, had been estranged with her for the past 10 years. And she was on her way to meeting Stacy and regaining her affection when she came across Dillon and shared a night of passionate romance with him.

Dillon was also going to meet a woman, who also turns out to be Stacy. The two have been friends for a long time, now their relationship has become complicated as Stacy has developed feelings for him. When Dillon reveals to Chantel that her sister is in love with him and Chantel tells him that she is pregnant with his child, things become difficult for all three of them. But, he finds himself in a big dilemma as he also cannot betray Stacy’s love. He just prays that God helps them find a solution suitable for all of them.

Another mind blowing book of this series is called ‘Expectations’. It was also published in 2000 by Harlequin Superromance. This novel contains Adam Durham, Ryan, and Jenna Livington as the primary characters. At the book’s start, Jenna Livington is introduced as a 32 year old divorced mother of an eight year old son named Ryan. After raising her son with the support of her parents, Jenna returns to Mendocino to earn her living and provide herself and her son on her own. She starts her new job at the Victoria Bed & Breakfast, where she is also given a place to live by the owners. The hotel is owned by the old Durham couple, whose grandson named Adam was the first son of Jenna Livington. The two were together 15 years back, but due to some reason, Adam abandoned Jenna and his first child. He was always passionate for a successful career in the big city. Adam runs away for the city’s bright lights and fast track life, leaving Jenna and Ryan behind. When Jenna comes back to Mendocino 15 years later, she comes across Adam unexpectedly.

After rediscovering Jenna, Adam feels the urge to have her back in his life. And as much as Jenna is angry with Adam, she is happy to know to have Adam still has feelings for her. She too wants to get back with him and start a family. But, there are too many difficulties in their path that make it pretty tough for them to move ahead with this decision. Given the history they had with each other, they know it very well that they are expecting too much. And when Adam learns that Jenna is pregnant with another child from a different man, he doesn’t know how to take it. Adam knows he had taken a bad decision once and lost Jenna, and he is not ready to lose her again by making the same mistake twice. Adam shows the determination to accept her in spite of the complex situation and provide her all the happiness that she has deprived of. Jenna takes a great pride in knowing that she has chosen the right man, who had made the mistake of leaving her, but has come back to her forever. The two go on to live a happy life with their two children and leave their past lives behind.
