First my apologies – I didn’t link the May 2026 Books I Read article correctly on the homepage. You can read it here.
May was a very busy month for me.
Along with work, I was off at the F1 in Montreal. I did record a currently reading video while there, and then one shorly after. YOu can see a glimpse of the action here if you like.
I post those videos every week on Book Notification. Very fun chatting about what I read and rating books.
It was also my daughters birthday so that kept me busy the tail end of the month.
I did get SOME reading done though – let’s see what I got:
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson: I wasn’t a fan of the first book in this series. I mean it was okay – A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder – but it was a bit all over the place. I didn’t feel for the characters, PLUS! SHE! KILLED! A! DOG!
But this one? Wow. Just so much better. Big evolution from Holly Jackson as a writer. I’m not sure what changed but this one flowed so well, the characters were all characters I cared about etc. The story was great.
Loved that one and immediately watched the adaptation with my daughter. For reference, I gave Good Gilrs Guide to Murder 6/10, and this one I gave 9/10. Really really good stuff.
Anatomy of an Aliby by Ashley Elston: I gave First Lie Wins by Ashley a 10/10, and this was a 9/10 for me. Very good book about one woman who becomes an alibi for another woman while she can spy on her husband, then the husband turns up dead! Ashley is a blind buy for me after these last two books. Great thriller.
Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke: A bit of a poloarizing book. Any time it pops up on my #bookstagram feed it’s someone yelling about how they don’t know how they feel about it – AND I HAVE TO AGREE.
I still don’t know if I liked it, loved it, disliked it or what. It’s one I’d recommend reading just to see what all the fuss is about. I don’t think it is deserving of some of the accolades it has been receiving, but it’s still an excellent story.
