AE Wasp is a fantasy, romance, gay and lesbian fiction author from Colorado best known for the “Hot Off the Ice” series of novels.

The author spent time raising her kids, traveling the globe as an employee of the US State Department and earning several degrees before she came back to writing, which was always her first love.

As an idealist and dreamer, she has made a name for herself writing of people that find magic in a seemingly very mundane world. She invites her readers into the worlds and lives of her characters when they are at their most human, living with the same fears and hopes we all have.

As an avid traveler, AE has lived in small towns and big cities across four different continents and discovered that distance and time are no barriers to love. The Long Island born author has also lived in Bangkok, London and Los Angeles even though she now makes her home in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Wasp has always loved contemporary romance as she loves to read about protagonists with wild careers such as the race car driver or the motorcycle club guy. Her heroes tend to be people with whole lives that include hobbies, family and friends in addition to romantic interests.

As a gay author, she has always wished that someone would do a rewrite of “Fast & Furious” with the two lead protagonists in love. Since that is highly unlikely, she decided to write her own stories.

As for her literary influences, she has said that she has too many to count. She loves the exploration of love and philosophy of Madeline L’Engle and the exquisite exploration of imagery and themes in legends and themes by Guy Gavriel Fionavir.

AE Wasp has also been a huge fan of 70s and 80s speculative fantasies from the likes of Norman Spinrad and Harlan Ellison.

As for popular media, his biggest influence was “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

For several years, AE Wasp tried to write an urban fantasy that involved mystical portals opening betweening alien realism and our world. Even though he tried different approaches and wrote several manuscripts over the years, he just could not put it all together.

However, things changed in 2015 when he finally finished writing the manuscript and published “Buried Desire” in 2016. Embarrassingly, the drive and motivation to finish writing and publish the novel was from rewatching “Supernatural” and “Dirty Dancing on TV.”

After he threw in some research he had done on the Roma people, and the “Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn” coupled with his love of ghosts, she finally made it. She has never looked back since as she now has more than two dozen works across several series of novels and single standing novellas.

AE Wasp’s novel “City Boy” is the story of Bryce Lowery, an exceptional hockey player that lived and breathed for the game. Hockey is something he has been doing since he was fifteen.

Two decades later, he finds himself tired, famous, rich and alone. His ex wife also thinks he is gay, which he thinks might be true when he gets blown tire and has some mind blowing sex with Dakota a white Knight who stops to help him.

He has a tough choice of either following his heart into the unknown or following the money in signing a new multi million dollar contract. Dakota Ryan is an exceptional apple grower but in a cruel twist of fate, he may just lose it all aged twenty four.

Things take a turn and it seems his prayers have been answered when he meets Bryce Lowery. He tells him that he can make all his wildest dreams a reality but Dakota is worried that he could leave him just like everyone before him had. Dakota can either just sit back and choose his own future or let Bryce decide his fate.

“Country Boy” by AE Wasp is a compelling romance story between Robbie Rhodes and Paul Dyson. They found themselves buck naked in the former’s bed the first time they had met. But things had not gone so well after that as Paul hit Robbie the morning after and called him some unprintable names.
Two years later, they find themselves working together as they are both on the Seattle Thunder hockey team. The society believes that being gay is unnatural and wrong and hence they have no room in the world they live in.

Paul has been hearing this his whole life and hence when he discovers he is gay, he goes deep into the closet. When he finally gets the chance to achieve his lifelong dream, he takes it with both hands, even if he has to share a room with a man he knows he could never resist.

It is not long before Paul is in the arms of his brilliant and caring team mate, and falling in love. But even though Robbie cares for Paul, he cannot justify remaining in the closet as it goes against everything he believes.

He feels that he has to come out of the closer and be the first pro hockey player that is publicly gay.

AE Wasp’s novel “Skater Boy” is the story of Alex Staunton, who only desires marriage, love and a baby. He also desires a figure skating Olympic medal, which he has managed to snag. He has made a series of poor decisions, the last of which resulted in a door being slammed in his face.

Alex then decides to move in with Sergei Pergov, the starting goalie of Thunder. But then tragedy strikes as his friend is granted custody of twins he sired confidentiality. Alex gets involved in fathering the kids and Alex promises to be the best house husband and fake dad ever.

How Alex makes everything seem so easy is fascinating to Sergei and as they become ever closer, Sergei cannot imagine living without Alex. His love makes them a family and his dedication and hard work makes their house into a home.

But Sergei has his work cut out convincing Alex that he is his everything.
