Author A. D. Davies writes the “Adam Park” series of thriller novels. The series began publication in the year 2015, when “The Dead and the Missing” was released.

Adam Park, the star of the series, investigates missing persons cases and deals with the darkness inside of him and tries to deal with it. This after he was kidnapped when he was just a young man. Even though he has a moral compass, he does not always feel compelled to listen to it.

Even though Adam’s personal journey continues throughout each of the books in the series, each novel is a self-contained story. This allows the reader the chance to read them in any order.

“The Dead and the Missing” is the first novel in the “Adam Park Thriller” series, which was released in the year 2015. Adam Park’s old mentor recruits him to finding a vulnerable loved one. He learns quickly that the girl is either the brains behind robbing a major criminal enterprise or the victim of an ex-con’s manipulating. She is in mortal danger, whatever the truth is.

Adam tracks the pair from the UK to Paris, then to Asia. He delves deep into the violent and murky world of human trafficking as well as extortion, where he’s going to have to pull upon the darkest parts of psyche to stay alive.

These are parts of himself that he has denied exist for a long time. Bubbling just under the surface, Adam has been keeping his violence and anger caged his entire life. He is a good person. Right?

The subplots add to the entertainment and interest from the reader. Some strong characters come through in different locations. Davies’ style of writing is able to describe things just enough without taking away from the action. Adam Park is a character that readers would not mind reading more about, as he uses strategy, rather than strong muscles to ensure the action scenes will always be interesting.

“A Desperate Paradise” is the second novel in the “Adam Park Thriller” series, which was released in the year 2016. Adam Park has a damaging and violent case finally behind him. He is just happy to be tending to his deceased mother’s canal barge, hoping his increased training is not required, and getting caught up on reading. He owes favors, and an aid worker gets killed on the Greek island of Paramatra. One favor is called in, as a result.

Kai Pace’s parents think the investigation into the death of their son is flawed, and Adam has to review the conclusions the police came to. And if found wanting, he will have to figure out who the killer is.

This is an island struggling to cope with the recent influx of refugees from war zones across all of the Mediterranean. Adam must fight corruption and different smuggling gangs, among people who are so desperate they would do anything to get to the paradise of the west.

This is a superb book that is tough for readers to put down for very long. Adam Park is a likable guy and the writer is stellar at telling a story. Readers cannot help but finish one, and then get started on the next one, they are that hooked on the series.

“The Shadows of Empty Men” is the third novel in the “Adam Park Thriller” series, which was released in the year 2016. Adam is retained to confirm a young heiress’ family tree, and it seems like the very simple case he needs to break up the monotony of a life on a Mediterranean island. It quickly becomes clear that there are others who want to stake a claim to the girl’s fortune, and they are sponsored by an organization that has one foot in the occult. Something so inconvenient as a private detective is not going to stand in their way.

This group calls on a shadowy killer called the Pale Boy. Adam turns his attention to the girl, and learns that her illness is viewed as a kind of possession by a spirit that is intent on right the wrongs from the Romani genocide inflicted by the Nazis. Even the people who say they represent her might not have her best interests at heart.

Adam dives into a decades-old secret that people will kill to protect. He must fight hard and smart against people of esoteric greed, an evidently supernatural mercenary, and against his own darkening nature.

This one is just as good as the previous books in the series. Davies does a stellar job of weaving the tale and he never lets the reader figure it all out. Some cannot get enough of Adam Park, as he is a strong character, and readers hope to read many more books about him.

“Master the Flame” is the fourth novel in the “Adam Park Thriller” series, which was released in the year 2017. Adam Park is just trying to get home. The vicious criminal that shaped his life for the past few years demands a final assignment out of him. Solve the case of some serial arsonist, and it will free Adam from any obligation.

Getting to Amsterdam, Adam meets up with Sophie Remick. She was investigating a fire in a hotel that killed a prominent American mobster’s son, and is a fire she wanted to look into further. Adam’s presence allows her the chance at proving the theory she has.

The pair start to open up some new avenues, while a sadistic killer attempts to scare them away. Adam and Sophie are pushed into a world of the Russian mafia and former IRA smugglers, all punctuated by some manipulative federal agents. If they are to survive much longer, it is a world they must learn to navigate swiftly.

Adam Park is a likable guy that readers cannot help but root for. This book has a fast pace, and it is intriguing to find out who the arsonist is. The way the book ends make it well worth reading the whole book.
