An Indian author of Young Adult and contemporary fiction, the writer Aditi Khorana is a highly versatile and much celebrated voice within the modern literary industry, as her reputation is steadily growing day-by-day, with her work being much appreciated by audiences from all across the world, as she garners applause from both the critical establishment and the general public alike. Creating strong characters she is an extremely perceptive author with a keen eye for detail and what it is that makes people act the way that they do. Understanding her audience clearly, she obviously has a passion for what she is writing about, as it is that manages to shine through on every page. Previously working for major news networks as a journalist too, she knows exactly what it is that audiences want and are looking for, whilst also simultaneously not sacrificing her own idiosyncratic voice in the process. With a strong head for both business and her own creativity, she has been able to provide an alternative take upon the genre, taking it in new and interesting directions. This is something that many have warmed to globally, as she allows the reader to easily find themselves within the stories that she creates, immersing themselves within her worlds. Showing a strong creative vision, she manages to paint a highly vivid and realistic portrait, as she mostly writes thoughtful science-fiction that leads the way to more profound ideas and themes. All this she does whilst making her stories accessible to a younger audience of readers as well, allowing them to easily grasp the concepts, whilst also not condescending them whilst she writes. Her characters are also extremely well drawn as they come across as highly realistic, giving an insight into the lives of the young protagonists in a way that resonates effectively with the reader.

Early and Personal Life

Born in New Delhi, the author to be Aditi Khorana was born and raised in India, growing up with a strong interest and passion for both reading and writing. Getting herself a strong education as well, she would later go on to attend Brown University whereby she would get a BA in International Relations, along with an MA in Global Media and Communications. Receiving her MA whilst at the Annenberg School for Communication, she would continue to work on developing her voice as an author, all whilst gaining an in-depth academic background.

Working as a journalist for some time prior to becoming a writer, she would work at prestigious organizations such as ABC News, PBS and CNN, as well as working at Sony, Paramount and Fox as a marketing executive consultant. This gave her a unique insight into working as a writer, allowing her to effectively communicate with the audience in a manner which was engaging and accessible. Currently living in Los Angeles she continues to write on a regular and consistent basis, whilst also keeping herself active, which is something which will continue for many years to come.

Writing Career

Her first novel was to be ‘Mirror in the Sky’ which was released in 2016, and this would cement the reputation of Khorana as a thoughtful and intelligent writer of science-fiction. Working as a stand-alone novel it was not to be a part of any overall series, as it was later followed up in 2017 with her second book ‘The Library of Fates’, which would show a clear development in her writing career. Quickly gaining recognition as a serious contender on the literary scene, it would mark her out as a definite writer to watch in the years that were to follow.

Spending much of her childhood in Denmark and New England as well as India, Khorana got to see and experience a lot whilst growing up, something which goes some way towards explaining how her writing is so rich and vibrant. Now taking in all that Los Angeles has to offer, she’s never short of ideas for her next big novel, largely thanks to her strong imagination and endless source of creativity. With a lot more to come yet, she doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength, something that will continue for some time yet.

Mirror in the Sky

Brought out through the ‘Razorbill’ publishing outlet, this was the first novel to come from Aditi Khorana. Released on the 21st of June in 2016 it was a stand-alone science-fiction novel. Setting up her writing career overall, it was the ideal start to her career.

Attending the highly sought after and academically tough Brierly Academy prep school on a scholarship, Tara Krishnan is starting to feel it’s all a little overwhelming for her. That’s when an alternate Earth is noticed in the distant skies by NASA along with an intercepted message, as Tara wonders what may lie out there for her alternative self. Faced with the knowledge of this new planet called Terra Nova, she realizes that nothing may ever be the same again, especially as the planet shifts light around along with a black hole. Where will this discovery take them? Can Tara ever get her old life back? Who is in the mirror in the sky?

The Library of Fates

Marking the second title for Aditi Khorana, this was a fantasy novel this time. Published by ‘Razorbill’ again, it managed to develop her style and her tone. It was released in 2017 on the 18th of July to much acclaim.

Arriving in Shalingar, the Emperor Sikander finds that this peaceful and highly idyllic little kingdom has been completely impervious to his many attempted conquests. In the hope of keeping his visit a friendly one the young Princess Amrita offers herself as a bride to him forgoing everything she knew of her life, but this still isn’t enough. With her city now under siege she goes on the run, coming into contact with Sikander’s former prisoner, the oracle Thala, as she tells of the ‘Library of All Things’, which can potentially turn the clock back to before everything went wrong for her. Do the answers really lie there, though? Can she and Thala make it there together? What awaits her in the Library of Fates?
