Al Lacy is an evangelist and an author with three million books in print. He lives in Florida with his wife and longtime collaborator, JoAnna.
Al writes westerns, romance, historical fiction and inspirational stories. He writes under the pen names of Bill Reno and Morgan Hill and writes with his wife JoAnna Lacy. He has written the “Orphan Trains Trilogy”, the “Badge” series, the “Angel of Mercy” series, the “Mail Order Bride” series, and the “Journeys of the Stranger” series, as well as some stand alone novels.
“Legacy” is the first novel in the “Journeys of the Stranger” series and was released in the year 1994. From the Missouri River to the Pacific Coast, a mysterious and dark man rides for justice and for truth. On his right hip is a Colt .45 Peacemaker. In his pack, often in his hand, he carries a big, black Bible. He is the legend that is known only as the Stranger.
John Stranger finds the people of Riverton, Wyoming to be held in a grip of fear. Taking on the role of their new pastor, the Stranger takes a stand against the evil that infiltrated the town. He does so with unequaled fighting skill and gently spoken biblical wisdom.
This book is action packed, well paced, and clean. Al is great at telling stories that are filled with history and exemplify the mercy and grace of God. Each one of these books are full of suspense and drama and action that keep readers on the edge of their seats. Readers enjoyed reading about John Stranger, who made for a great hero in the book.
“Silent Abduction” is the second novel in the “Journeys of the Stranger” series and was released in the year 1994. The man in black and the woman he loves help out a tiny town that is targeted by some cattle rustlers. Is the Stranger going to be able to keep Jim Logan’s family from destruction and rescue a gorgeous woman being separated from the man that she loves?
“Blizzard” is the third novel in the “Journeys of the Stranger” series and was released in the year 1995. Three killers set to be hanged escape from the Colorado Territorial Prison at Canon City. A young U. S. Marshal, named Ridge Holloway, along with the mysterious Stranger team up in order to hunt down the infamous convicts.
“Tears of the Sun” is the fourth novel in the “Journeys of the Stranger” series and was released in the year 1995. John Stranger has been summoned to Apache Junction, Arizona. Here, a hard-fought land dispute between the Zuni and Apache Indians has led to a wedding day abduction of the Arizona governor’s son.
Terms for the kid’s return, the warriors are demanding weapons that would only escalate the fighting between these two tribes, and the white men who came to the area seeking to find gold. Or like it’s known to the Indians: “Tears of the Sun”.
“Circle of Fire” is the fifth novel in the “Journeys of the Stranger” series and was released in the year 1996. John Stranger works on breaking up an eight-man group of night riders that are terrorizing local ranchers near Billings, Montana. While he works to bring justice to these outlaws, John is unaware there is another “stranger” that has adopted his identity and robs and kills people in the same area.
Ultimately, John brings in the final night-riding bandit, just to find himself arrested for far worse crimes. Will the Stranger be able to clear his good name?
“Quiet Thunder” is the sixth novel in the “Journeys of the Stranger” series and was released in the year 1996. John Stranger gets involved in the lives of a skillful and brave Sioux warrior called Quiet Thunder and the white Army captain who has been the guy’s blood brother since childhood.
Despite the disapproval of both of their people, Thane Tyler and Quiet Thunder stay faithfully true to their friendship. Both on the battlefield and in their hearts. When the two have to inevitably face each other with their weapons drawn, which is going to win out: duty or love?
“Under the Distant Sky” is the first novel in the “Hannah of Fort Bridger” series and was released in the year 1997. During the years after the Civil War, Hannah and Solomon Cooper decide to look for a new life out on the frontier. In the treacherous journey that follows, though, tragedy strikes. By every reasonable expectation they should go back home.
To the surprise of everybody in the wagon train, and despite strong opposition, Hannah moves onward. The whole time, she displays courage, grit, and a faith that is deep enough to keep her family sustained through some of life’s greatest trials.
Readers found this to be superb historical fiction with a good storyline. The journey of family and the friendships these characters have with one another was incredible. The love of Christ the family shares was inspiring and readers enjoyed how the great spirit is found throughout.
“Consider the Lilies” is the second novel in the “Hannah of Fort Bridger” series and was released in the year 1997. Hannah’s wagon train is now twenty days from Fort Bridger while she deals with her kid’s and her own grief over the death of her husband. The Solomons, back in Fort Bridger, are making quite a few friends. Yet there is one guy, embittered after the Civil War, that hates Hannah since her husband fought for the Union side, and because she is a strong woman that plans to run the general store.
In a fit of temper, this guy, named Alex Patterson, starts a fire that destroys Hannah’s store and apparently her future. Right when Hannah comes close to giving up, she gets reminded to cling to God’s promises that he will provide. Quickly, she sees God’s hand on her life. And as a result, she is able to recover. She is also even able to lead Alex to Christ through her example of forgiveness.
