Alana Khan is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of steamy science fiction romances that usually come with steam, adventure, three-dimensional characters, and happy endings.

She penned “Zar” her debut novel in 2019 and has never looked back since. She now has more than 60 works of fiction spread across more than a dozen series.

Khan has made a reputation for herself writing angsty and sometimes grumpy heroes who usually change their ways when confronted with the love of a great woman.

Nonetheless, her feisty heroines and her troubled heroes usually got through hell before getting their happily ever after.

Many of her novels are set in outer space but the struggles and emotions could happen to anyone.

What most people do not know is that Alana is a pseudonym since she still actively works as a psychotherapist. She has said that she does not want her clients to one day be scandalized when they discover she has been writing sexy stories for fun.

Still, she uses her experiences as a therapist to offer unique insights into the motivations, feelings, and thoughts of ordinary people. These also provide her writings with a ring of deep emotions and truth.

Working as a psychotherapist, she has done a lot of work on PTSD and trauma and this perhaps informs the many issues her characters have.

While many of her characters have been traumatized and scarred she usually makes them work hard for a happily ever after which she believes they deserve.

As for her passion for storytelling, Alana Khan has said that books have always been something she loved ever since she could read. Even now, she usually has at least five books in different stages of being read on her e-reader. However, romance which she came to love in her teenage years continues to be her favorite genre.

Perhaps it is not surprising that one of her favorite TV shows is “Spartacus” and the scene in which two slaves are forced to meet in a cell. It is from this scene that she got the inspiration for the events in her debut novel “Zar.”

Alana began writing science fiction romances in her head. It was a time before it was a thing but she kept at it and has now become one of the most prolific authors in the genre with more than fifteen works published every year.

“Zar” by Alana Khan is the story of Anya a woman that goes to sleep in her moose print two-piece pajamas and wakes up to find herself taken prisoner by a boar-like humanoid alien on a slave spacecraft.

She has been taken alongside nine other human females and is now expected to breed with the aliens by force. Any woman that refuses will have their head blown off using the slave collars that had been slapped on their neck when they had been kidnapped.

Anya thought she was dreaming but soon realizes things are so real when she is shoved into a cell with a humanoid alien male that looks like a combination of a bear and a lion.

Even though he takes the least time in the mating ritual and tries to be as gentle as possible, she still has to deal with the cruel and animalistic demeanor. It turns out that he is the most highly-rated gladiator among the aliens which makes his gentle behavior even more puzzling.

Anya has no ability or hope of taking over the ship or escaping and ultimately accepts her fate. But then hope arrives in the form of a 3-foot alien taken by the captain that seems to have telepathic powers.

Alana Khan’s novel “Shadow” tells the story of a gladiator named shadow whose asshat reputation proceeds him.

He is angry and cold and never lets anyone in not even his cellmate Grace. He was showcasing his usual asshat behavior until he met Petra in Numa where they had gone to participate in the gladiator games.

They needed to participate in the games to earn money to fix their ship, buy supplies, and outrun the cartel they had escaped from. It was there that he met Petra who had been kidnapped by aliens and sold on as a slave.

She had lived in poverty in Eastern Europe devastated by war before she moved to the US, where she had found prosperity working as a hairstylist.

However, given her history, she can never let anyone in as she fears they may be taken or go away and leave her in pain. But then she meets the gladiator with an attitude she understands and connects with.

It makes for an excellent story of redemption and acceptance as two people who were let down by people and life circumstances tried to let down their barriers and let love take over.

“Tyree” by Alana Khan is the story of Grace that reacts with horror when she discovers that one of her friends has posted her music on a video-sharing site.

The music has since gone viral resulting in an invitation to go perform for the emperor on his planet. Performing in public has never been her thing as she has always been fearful of large crowds since she was a child.

However, the emperor is sure to pay her a huge sum and this would serve her and her ship’s crew well.

Her calm in the storm and her protector is Tyree who is known for his ability to calm down almost anyone and particularly Grace. While she does not believe in fated mates he could not be more sure about her.

Upon arrival on the emperor’s planet, she takes to heart her friend’s advice and concentrates her gaze on a doorknob right at the far end of the concert hall. She has a very good first performance but things soon turn bad as they are betrayed.

Most of their crew leave and leave Grace and Tyree to perform their last set all alien and this is when things go horribly wrong.
