After grieving for a little while, Rose decides to take on a new career. She agrees to investigate about the reason behind the strange behavior of her childhood friend Alice’s husband. But, when she returns to the crime scene, she neither finds the dead body nor the police constable. Both of them seem to have disappeared without any trace. However, the police do not appear to believe her story, including her lover and Detective Sergeant named Jack Macmerry from the Edinburgh City Police. In spite of all this, Rose McQuinn continues with her stand and believes that a murder was committed at that place. Eventually, she decides to take the matters into her own hands and goes on to investigate the case in her own way. It appears that by deciding to do so, she might have turned herself into a deadly game of dangerous pursuits.
