But, when Eddie LaCrosse is hired as the private investigator to help the king find his princess, he does not realize the mysterious and deceitful web in which he is entering. He is described as a sword jockey who has a talent for detection and discretion. As Eddie begins his investigation he gets entangled in a case involving the brutal murder of a royal heir with the main accused being the queen. The deeper Eddie digs into the case, the more he is forced to face his tragic past that he thought to have left way behind. The novel went on to become a huge hit all across the world and helped author Alex to have a colorful start to the mystery series as well as to his writing career. The success of the novel also set the stage for him which gave him the chance to go on and flourish by writing more and more interesting novels in the future.
