Alexandra Christo
Alexandra Christo made the decision to write books when she was only four years old and her teacher told her that she could not be a fairy.

Alexandra has a BA in Creative Writing and works in London as a copywriter, both things make her sound much more grown up than she really feels.

When she isn’t busy making stories up, she can be found organizing food crawls all around the city, binge-watching Korean dramas, and buying far too many cushions.

Alexandra loves being an author and believes it is a dream come true. It may be filled with intense deadlines, a lot of late nights and the emails never end, but she loves each and every single moment of it. Writing is all she ever wanted to do, except for a couple of her teenage years when she was certain she would become a Spice Girl.

The very first book she wrote and queried out to agents was a modern-day fantasy book about a group of buddies on a ghostly quest. She believed that it was the best thing ever, she found out later it wasn’t, and queried it to roughly seventy agents. Of this seventy, only a handful were even a bit interested.

“To Kill a Kingdom” wound up happening by mere chance. Out of the handful of agents that responded to her, just one asked to look at her other stories as well, and so Alexandra sent off a bunch of random ideas she was working on. One of these was “To Kill a Kingdom”, which she had only written a few chapters of. The agent loved it and signed her.

At this point, she had to shelve the other manuscript that she was so sure was the Absolute Best, one that was ready to go and finished, and begin from scratch on a new book that only had a couple chapters finished on. All of a sudden, she now a had a deadline, and before she knew it, she was pitching to publishers on a partial manuscript. The whole thing was a whirlwind for her.

While writing, she doesn’t really listen to music, since she gets distracted quite easily, and is able to get pulled out of a story she is writing by some well timed lyrics or a certain beat. She will make playlists for her characters, however, and will usually listen to one or two songs before writing in order to get into their headspace.

She lives in Hertfordshire with an over abundance of cacti, since they are the only plants that she is able to keep alive.

Her debut novel, called “To Kill A Kingdom”, was released in the year 2018. Her work is from the urban fantasy genre.

“To Kill a Kingdom” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2018. Princess Lira is a siren royalty and she is the most deadly of all of them.

With seventeen princes’ hearts in her collection, she is revered all across the sea. Then a twist of fate sees her forced to kill one of her own. The Sea Queen, in order to punish her daughter, turns Lira into the only thing they hate the most: a human. Lira is now robbed of her song and only has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or stay a human forever.

The only place Prince Elian calls home is the ocean, even though he is the heir to the most powerful kingdom in the whole world. Hunting sirens is a lot more than just an unsavory hobby, it is also his calling. He rescues a drowning woman out in the ocean, she is much more than she appears. She promises to aid him in finding the key to destroying every siren forever.

Is he able to trust her? How many deals is Elian going to have to barter away in order to eliminate man’s greatest foe?

Alexandra delivers a dark young adult fantasy novel and she tells a vicious and compelling tale without succumbing to the usual tropes of the genre. She does a great job of writing for these characters, and telling this story. Readers liked how the romance is a slow-burn and not in your face.

“Into the Crooked Place” is the first novel in the “Into the Crooked Place” series and was released in the year 2019. The streets of Creije are for the dreamers and the lethal, and four thieves especially know how much magic they require up their sleeves in order to survive.

Wesley, who is the closest thing that Creije has got to a gangster. After he grew up on the streets hungry enough to swallow weak ones whole, he is not going to quit until he has brought the whole realm to kneel in front of him.

Tavia, a busker that is ready to pack her dark-magic wares up and turn away from Creije forever. She is going to do anything she can in order to put her crimes behind her.

Karam, who is a warrior that spends days watching over the worst criminals in the city and her nights inside the fighting rings, making a lethal name for herself.

And finally, Saxony, a resistance fighter that is hiding from the same people that destroyed her whole family, and is willing to do whatever she must to exact her revenge.

Everything goes to plan, until Tavia makes a rather vital mistake. She delivers one vial of dark magic, a weapon she didn’t realize she was in possession of, to somebody she cares about, and it sparks the largest conflict in decades. These four magical outsiders must now come together in order to save their home and the entire world, before time runs out. With enemies on all sides, they are unable to trust anybody. Least of all one another.

Fans of the novel enjoyed the magic system and the plot. The train chase was a highly exhilarating sequence, and the romance was subtle and never got in the way of the main plot of the novel.
