A woman who is fatally cursed and a single father who has a complex path end up seeing their lives collide. This is happening at the same time as their small town is turning into the hunting ground for a serial killer who is obsessed with power.

Veda Thorne is someone who has come to accept what has happened to her. She knows now that she is living on borrowed time and doesn’t have much longer. She attempted to fight the curse that was inside of her and do everything that she could to prevent it from becoming fatal. But every magical cure that she has gone after has turned out to not have the effect that she was going for, and now she has to contend with the cold hard truth that she is going to die unless she can do something about it.

For the time being, it seems that she has run out of potential remedies to try. Veda has put herself into isolation and dealing with her impending doom on her own. However, it turns out that her isolation is broken when she’s asked if she would be willing to tutor Antaris. He is a child who also knows pain and something about this makes her feel sympathetic to him.

It was years ago that Hiram Ellis decided to leave his prejudiced but wealthy family behind. Now he is dealing with life as a single father and has decided to come back to his hometown with the aim of constructing his own life. Hiram is determined to make it very different from his childhood, where he felt suffocated with privilege and emotional distance.

He didn’t anticipated that the woman helping out his son would end up being someone that he was attracted to. She is protective and quick with her tongue, and something about her just draws him to her. He’s not sure what to do about it.

A trail of enchanted spider lilies may end up providing a strange connection to a situation that Veda and Hiram never saw coming. They discover their link to what appears to be a prolific serial killer, and suddenly their entire world has been flipped upside down.

Now the two have to deal with this fact and also are put into the position where they must put their differences to the side. As they dig up secrets that have been buried for a long time, they also put themselves at risk. Sometimes the truth can be more deadly, and this time getting at the truth may end up being as fatal as the curse that is on Veda.

It turns out that pursuing the truth can come at a cost– one that Hiram and Veda aren’t sure that they’re ready to pay. They keep going but as more motives come out and the list of victims only continues to grow, they realize that they’re playing a risky game. Can they get at what is really happening and stop a killer? Will their time together blossom into love? Read Sight Unseen from Alexis Marie to find out!
