Alice Henderson is a bestselling horror, science fiction mystery and young adult fantasy author.

She is a passionate wildlife researcher that makes use of various methods of research to conduct wildlife surveys to find out the many species on lands reserved for conservation.

At work, she is charged with preventing poaching and coming up with ways to improve animal habitats. Henderson makes use of geographic information systems to build species distribution models, habitat suitability models and wildlife corridors.

Over the years she has surveyed lands for endangered bats, grizzlies, jaguars, wolves, wolverines, spotted owls and wolves.

Alice has also written media tie-in novels for the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. She has also written material for Star Wars video games while she worked for LucasArts.

Henderson was selected to attend the NASA funded “Launchpad” program, which is intended to bring accurate science into fiction works.
She penned “Shattered Roads,” her debut novel in 2018.

Henderson has been writing for as long as she has had an interest in wildlife activism and advocacy. As a six year old, Alice was given an old manual typewriter and it was then that she got hooked on writing stories. It was also the same year that she developed a passion for helping wild animals.
During this time, she used to muck out cages working at the local wildlife rehabilitation/rescue center. She also made small imaginative crafts she sold for money that she used to give to wildlife non profits.

Later on, she studied science and writing in undergraduate and graduate school where she studied climatology, fiction writing, screenwriting, biogeography and field zoology.

A few years after getting her masters degree, she was inspired to combine her writing with wildlife research. She wanted to tell a story full of suspense as she shines a light on the plight of several endangered species.

Alice has asserted that she finds writing to be a great way to explore and disseminate information about wildlife while entertaining her readers too.

While Alice Henderson has been writing in all manner of genres, the only constant to her writing is that all of them deal to some degree with wildlife and nature.

She is quite the lover of nature and spends much of her time in the wilds. She has often been asked if she is scared of meeting wolves and bears in the wild and has given a very interesting answer.

In a recent interview, she said that she finds wildlife and the wilderness deeply comforting. She loves the large animals such as bears, wolves and wolverines and the small creatures such as snakes, insects and spiders.

She loves reading suspense, action and thrillers and it was from one of these sessions that she started writing. It was while she was setting up her recorders in a Montana wildlife sanctuary that she thought why not write a thriller on such themes.

The isolated and remote location offered an excellent setting for suspense and this is when she started writing her debut novel.

Alice Henderson’s novel “A Solitude of Wolverines” introduces Alex Carter, a biologist. At the opening of the novel, she is at a Montana wildlife sanctuary where she gets run off the road by locals that do not want her on their land.

But she will never relent in her mission to save a threatened species. She is tracking wolverines by camera setup on remote locations on the preserve and by foot too. When she looks at the photographs, she finds some disturbing images that include a severely injured man wandering the woods seemingly lost.
Local law enforcement goes into action to find the man but they turn up empty despite their best efforts. But when they announce that they intend to dismiss the case, Alex is suspicious.

When a strange predator is reported to have trespassed into the preserve and is targeting Alex, she immediately knows it is another human. It turns out that she has gotten herself into the middle of an intricate illegal operation that she threatens.

In this dangerous and wild landscape, her life will depend on keeping ahead of the predator in the battle for survival.

In “A Blizzard of Polar Bears” by Alice Henderson, Alex Carter the Montana based wildlife biologist is employed by a company in the Canadian Arctic. She is supposed to conduct a study on a population of polar bears that are under threat in the region.

Working with a small team of researchers, she is tracking the bears by plane as they follow them over snowy, vast terrain. She uses a tranquilizer gun to take them down and then gets down on the snow to have a closer inspection.

Alex is gathering information on individual bears and her work is progressing well when it suddenly goes wrong. Her helicopter pilot quits out of the blue and some of her very important equipment goes missing with most of her samples stolen by a night intruder who broke into her laboratory.

She is not easily deterred despite the fact that she is sure someone wants to sabotage her work. But it will be hard to find another pilot out on Hudson Bay at this time. Things get even more interesting when their helicopter catches fire when they are heading out to conduct some investigations.

Forced to land on a remote glacier, they find themselves in a struggle to survive miles from civilization. It gets even worse when they are attacked by armed assailants that come against them riding snowmobiles.

Alex needs to rely on her tenacity and skills if she is to survive the onslaught and complete her mission.

Alice Henderson’s novel “A Ghost of Caribou” is an electrifying novel that builds on the highly acclaimed first two novels of the “Alex Carter” series. Things start moving when a remote camera set on a rugged but large expanse of preserve land records a blurry image of what experts believe is a mountain caribou.
Alex is sent in to investigate since the mountain caribous is believed to have gone extinct in continental USA several decades earlier. If one is found it would be a monumental discovery. However, Alex quickly discovers that her only challenge when she arrives is not only to find the elusive antelope.

The locals are agitated while activists and loggers are fighting over a swathe of ancient forest earmarked for logging. Things get even more interesting when Alex learns that a hiker had gone missing several months earlier only for the body of a forest ranger to also turn up.

Venturing into the woods to find the endangered caribou, she soon finds herself fighting for her life as she is caught in the middle of a killer stalking the ancient woods and factions determined to influence the future of the ancient forest.

I liked your Alex Carter Books. A Wildlife Ecologist is my neighbor and she has interesting tales about her students and where they go to do research. Please write more books about her and the environment.
