Little Blue Truck’s Christmas
Originally brought out through the ‘HMH Books for Young Readers’ publishing label, this would first come out on the 23rd of September in 2014. It was the third book to be released in ‘The Little Blue Truck’ series of books, but they’re simply a collection of young children’s books to be read in no particular order. The pages are made of hardened card, and the illustrations are done by Jill McElmurry, with their bright and colorful designs.
It’s Christmas time once more, and it’s also time for Little Blue Truck to spread some seasonal cheer, as he helps to deliver Christmas trees to his friends. Counting each tree from one to five, the reader is encouraged to count along with him, helping Little Blue on his journey. With large text on card stock pages, the book helps the young reader to not only learn to read, but to count as well.
Little Blue Truck’s Springtime
Initially released in 2018 on the 2nd of January, this would also come out through the ‘HMH Books for Young Readers’ publishing house. It would be the seventh book in ‘The Little Blue Truck’ collection of books, creating another stand-alone story. Working with the illustrator Jill McElmurry once more, it’s another imaginative and fun story featuring the eponymous lead character.
Taking a ride with his friend Toad, it’s now Springtime for the Little Blue Truck, as he takes a ride through the farm. Seeing many animals along the way, it’s a beautiful sunny day, and everyone’s out to say hello to both Truck and Toad. Meeting many newborn baby animals too, they both meet a colorful cast of characters, as they meet new friends as the young readers follow along.
Such a Little Mouse
This would be published through the Orchard Books publishing outlet, and it would come out in 2015 on the 31st of March. This wouldn’t be a part of any series, but it would be another picture book, running in a similar vein to many of Schertle’s other novels out there. Stephanie Yue would be doing the illustrations this time, creating colorful visual designs for the younger readers, designing a whole world for its singular protagonist to explore.
Living under the ground is a happy mouse, as he explores the world around him, finding his way about the world outside. Following along with the journey of the little mouse, the young readers themselves explore the world alongside him. With colorful illustrations, it’s a bright and lively book that really captures the imagination of children, all delivered in Schertle’s signature poetic style.
