Alma Alexander is the pseudonym of author Alma A. Hromic, who is one of the well known authors from Serbia. She specializes in writing books based on the young adult, fantasy, science fiction, and literature & fiction genres. Author Alma was born on July 5, 1963 in Novi Sad, Serbia. The popular novel series written by her include the Worldweavers and the young adult series titled Jine Shei. Author Alman is a native resident of Yugoslovakia, but spent most of her growing up years in the African countries of Swaziland, South Africa, and Zambia. She has also lived for some time in New Zealand and England, before moving finally to the United States. As of today, author Alma lives in Bellingham, Washington along with her husband named R.A. Deckert. In addition to the fantasy books written by author Alma, she has also published a short memoir that describes her experience of growing up in the African countries. She has also written an epistolary book based on the NATO war that happened Yugoslovakia. In writing this book, author Alma collaborated with her husband, who was working as an acquaintance with the Usenet newsgroup at that time. Apart from writing books, novels, and memoirs, author Alma has also penned a number of travelogues, poetry, book reviews, essays, as well as a few other articles in numerous magazines all across the globe, including Swans. One of the stories written by her, titled The Painting, won the Short Story Competition organized by the BBC in the year 2000. In the year 2009, author Alma had given away her archive to the department of Special Collections and Rare Books at the University of Northern Illinois as a donation. The written works of author Alma have been translated into more than 14 foreign languages all worldwide. Some of the translations include Turkish, Catalan, and Hebrew versions.

As of now, author Alma is working on the development of a new series of novels based on alternate history that is rooted in the Eastern Europe. In addition to her loving husband, her family comprises of a couple of cats and several assorted wildlife creatures. Author Alma says that she is a woman by nature or God, a scientist by her education, an author by profession, and a duchess of fantasy by historical accident. She likes to read books because she is very fond of love stories. She started writing as she loved to build her stories with the help of words. Along with all these activities, author Alma also runs and maintains a bog in which she likes to share with her followers her eclectic interests such as writing, reading, traveling, photography, animals, puns, and the environment. Author Alma says that she does not get much joy in doing other things than what she gets by building her worlds through writing. Most of her writings describe the places that exist only in her imaginations. When author Alma was ten years old, she left her birth country and went on to live in various countries. The experience that she got while living in all the different places have been shared by her in her books. Currently, many of her books are in print. In the young adult novel series of Worldweavers, author Alma has described a whole new universe full of shifters. One of her novels in the Jin Shei series has alone been released in 13 languages, touching the hearts of the readers throughout the world. As for her husband, author Alma says that she was wooed by him on the internet and then lured to live in America. She likes to take great care of her pet cats and always remains in their company whenever she is not busy trying to meet the deadlines of her written works.

The Worldweavers series written by Alma Alexander is comprised of a total of 4 books, which were published between 2008 and 2015. Its first book is titled as ‘Gift of the Unmage’. Author Alma has described the main characters in this book as Thea and Cheveyo. At the beginning, Cheveyo is introduced as the first person in the life of Thea. He tells her not to get impressed by her lineage as the Double Seventh, as she is the 7th child of the two 7th children. Right from her birth, she was expected to do many great things as she was thought of having great magical powers. But, as started becoming evident slowly as she grew up that her abilities were very minimal. Now, having Cheveyo by her side, Thea tries to weave a new identity for herself. She infuses the elements from the original worlds. However, she is made to go to the Academy back home, which is a place for the ones like her who cannot do magic. During her stay at the Academy, Thea realizes that she will have to put up a fight in order to live her life as per her wishes. Also, there are enemies who seem dangerous and hungry for her. Later on, Thea realizes that being powerless is the greatest strength she has. For writing this interesting fantasy novel, author Alma has used many cultural elements, both imaginary and real. The plot also includes a memorable group of characters.

The next book in this intriguing series is titled as ‘Spellspam’. This book was released in the year 2008 by the Eos publication. In this book, author Alma has shown that some ordinary spams of email get infused with the magic called Spellspam. At the start of the plot, it is shown that the students of Wandless Academy start getting the spellspams in the email. They think of them as practical jokes as they did not cause any harm to them. But slowly, they begin to get worse. And when Thea also starts getting the Spellspams, she realizes that there someone else who can also get exposure to the information stored in computers with the help of magic, just like her. And this unknown entity appears to do something else than just stir up some trouble. Later, Thea comes to know that this unknown person has arrived with a dark agenda from an entirely different world. Just like the previous novel written in the series by author Alma, this book too is filled with fantasy world which is nuanced and rich. Even though it looks like the one in humans live, it seems to house some sort of wild and original magic.
