She is famous for writing romance and contemporary stories, most of which have a historical touch to it. Scott has written many romance novels over the course of her literary career. Some of them have even won prominent literary awards. Author Scott has managed to get enlisted among the bestselling writers of her time with the help of her hard work, dedication, and passion for writing romance stories. The main characters of this book as described by author Scott include Molly Gordon and Sir Finlay Mackenzie. The setting of the plot is done by Scott in Scotland. At the start of the book’s story, it is shown that Molly Gordon is the Dunsithe Maid. She has a secret fortune that could help her to become Scotland’s wealthiest woman. But, she needs someone’s help to find the fortune. Before Molly could get her hands to the fortune, her selfish and greedy uncle abducts her. She is sent to a remote island away from her family and her treasure. Being in the captivity all alone Molly Gordon prays for a hero to come and rescue her. Eventually, Finlay Mackenzie comes to know about Molly’s state and bravely rescues her. Molly finds this fiery warrior very charming and attractive. However, before love could blossom between them, Finlay’s temper and Molly’s defiance enables them to indulge in will’s battle. Finlay sees Molly as a princess who is too proud and resists all his commands as well as his passion. The adventurous journey that lies ahead makes each one change the views about the other. In the midst of facing danger and overcoming them, Finlay Mackenzie and Molly Gordon open their hearts to each other accept one another as lovers.

Author Scott has set this novel’s story around the life of Molly Gordon’s sister, Elspeth Gordon. The other central character of the novel is Patrick MacRae. At the beginning of the story of the book, it is depicted that Elspeth lives the life of a poor servant in spite of being born in a high-status family. She does not want to remember her difficult past. Living a lonely life in Farnsworth, the only thing that Elspeth dreams about is getting freed from her drudgery life. And for this to happen, she hopes that some miracle would take place overnight. Patrick MacRae is introduced as a brave warrior, who risks his own life in order to save a fellow Scotsman’s life. When he takes refuge in an estate near the border, Patrick comes across an intriguing woman, Elspeth. He realizes that she is not what she appears to be, just like him. It does not take much time for them to fall in love. And as the enemies search for Patrick in the entire state, he feels the need of Elspeth’s help in protecting his mission and also for uncovering her real identity. This way, Elspeth could get what she is entitled to and Patrick could get his love forever.
