Beth Wiseman is an accomplished and best-selling author.

She is known for writing such series as the Land of Canaan, Daughters of the Promise, Amish Secrets, Amish Journeys, and the Amish Inn series. She has sold over two million copies of her novels and counting as she continues to sell books and win over new readers. On top of that, her books have all reached spots on the best seller lists for Publisher’s Weekly, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association, and the Christian Book Association.

Wiseman has also received several awards for her writing, as well. In 2011 and 2013, she received the Carol Award for her work. She has won the Inspirational Readers Choice Award three times and has also won the INSPY Award. She was also awarded the Holt Medallion in 2013. In addition, Seek Me with All Your Heart, the first in her Land of Canaan series, was picked to be the Women of Faith Book of the Year in 2011.

She is married to her husband and they both reside in Texas, where they enjoy living their country life while being empty nesters. While she may not be Amish herself, she knows quite a bit about the Amish. This is due to her connections in the Amish community as well as Amish friends that she has that live in Colorado and Pennsylvania. She even has her friends read her manuscripts before they are published to ensure that the details that she has in them line up with the real Amish ways.

She has written books about the Amish but has also written more contemporary stories. Wiseman says that from all of the characters in books that she’s written, her favorite is the character of Grandpa Jonas because he shares many of the qualities that her father did. She says that the characters from her stories ‘choose’ her, and she hears their voices in her head where they tell her the story that she should write. Her best advice for writers is to ‘have thick skin’ but also never give up, as persistence is key (she points to several rejection letters she has received over the years as proof that it’s all about getting your manuscript in front of an editor at the right time).

A Picture of Love is the first book in the Amish Inn series by Beth Wiseman. If you like a little romance and are a fan of anything Amish, give the debut in this series a try where it goes to show that true love can happen even when we are wounded.

Two people with broken hearts have promised that they are never going to open up to love again. One of them is Naomi Byler, a sweet young woman that is employed at The Peony Inn. There she whips up delicious meals for the guests there to enjoy. The inn is owned by the Amish sister duo of Esther and Lizzie, who care for her as though she is family. To them, Naomi is practically like their granddaughter.

For her part, Naomi is very satisfied with her job there and even happy. This is despite the fact that Thomas, her fiancé, has actually left her behind for the purposes of pursuing another woman. He was the love of her life, and she is absolutely heartbroken by his choice. While the enterprising young woman knows that she will eventually get over him, this has had a huge impact on her. She just does not see marriage as being in her future as she once did.

Then there’s Amos Lantz, a guest at the inn along with his mother. They’re here to go to the wedding of a cousin. However, Amos is not much in the mood to go to the wedding considering that he is still reeling from loss. His fiancée Sarah died a year ago, and he has been hurt to the core by the loss and his grief.

Amos and Naomi eventually meet and quickly become friends. They see each other’s grief and understand what it is like to lose a loved one in a painful way. They also find out that they both like to paint. The two start painting and working through the sadness together. Meanwhile, the two inn owners work on being matchmakers, something that could easily backfire on them. After all, when Thomas shows up intending to get Naomi back, it could be game over. Will Naomi take the man who abandoned her back, or does she have space in her heart for Amos? Can she give new love a chance? Read this book to find out!

An Unlikely Match is the second book in the Amish Inn series by Beth Wiseman. If you liked the sweet romance contained in the first book of the series, give this one a try and see what you think! This book also comes with discussion questions included for book clubs.

When a love connection strikes up between an Amish girl and a handsome Hollywood hunk, even the inn owners know that they should step back and let the romance run its course.

Evelynn Schrock lives in an Amish community and has turned down each and every young man that has come up trying to court her. She wants to find someone special, a man that can share with her a curious nature when it comes to faith and life. Then there’s Jayce Clarkson, a guy who is only in Amish country so that he can get a paycheck lugging equipment around for the movie production company his father owns.

He doesn’t expect to enjoy the cooking from the Peony Inn so much or to make a friend in Evelyn. He doesn’t love the job, or his father putting him down, but talking to Evelyn is nice. If he can just last one month, he can start again far away from Los Angeles and his past. He’s just got to make it through that month.

Lizzie and Esther see Jayce as a nice guy, but not Amish, which prevents them from encouraging the match like they normally would. But Evelyn and Jayce realize they’re attracted to each other. Can they be together, or is this a fleeting attraction destined to fade away? Read this book to find out!
