Amy Boyles
Amy Boyles is a mystery author best known for captivating paranormal mysteries. The author says that her goal is to bring humor and write for people who enjoy laugh-out-loud mystery stories. Southern Magic comes first in the Sweet Tea Witches series. The book introduces Pepper Dunn, a woman who is going through a rough patch. In a short twenty-four hours, Pepper loses her job, her home, and a man she cared about. It all starts when a colleague sets her up at work, and she ends up losing her home. When her rent cheque bounces, Pepper also loses her apartment, and her boyfriend couldn’t be bothered to show any compassion.
As if things cannot get worse, Pepper encounters a dangerous person lurking in the shadows. Were not for the talking cat that guides her to safety, there is no telling how wrong things would have gone.
Well, that encounter with a talking cat marks the beginning of a new life that Pepper never thought existed. It turns out that Pepper is not only a witch but is now the owner of a pet store in Magnolia Cove, Alabama. If only she cared enough for pets.
Pepper is allergic to animals, so she had always hated them. However, the news that she owns a shop comes as a relief for a woman who literally had nothing left.
Her plan is to sell the shop as soon as possible and then travel and celebrate her good fortune. Unfortunately, things do not go according to plan.
While Pepper manages to find a buyer for the shop fast, everyone is shocked when the man turns dead. Pepper is accused of this murder, and now she has to solve the mystery to get herself out of trouble.
As she works through the case, Pepper teams up with a private detective and a cat who has the key to solve the mystery, but he is too traumatized by his owner’s killing to talk. Can this woman who has never liked animals help heal the cat and consequently find the information she is looking for? What about her PI partner and all the mystery around him?
Southern Magic comes with all the right ingredients to a captivating mystery story. There is a strong and lovable main character who is unexpectedly thrown into the world of magic. You will also encounter enough dangerous and intriguing secondary characters.
The interesting mysteries and the touch of southern charm add character to the story making it irresistible.

Scared Witches
Scared Witches comes first in the Bless Your Witch series. The story stars Dylan Apel, a clothing designer/boutique owner with magical hands. Dylan has always made exquisite dresses that transform her clients into dazzling beings.
While no one can make a gown like her, Dylan thinks that she is just talented. It is only after a client is incinerated by a dress that she planned to wear that Dylan discovers that she has witchy powers.
A dead client is definitely bad for business, and all that Dylan wants is to hide in her boutique as she tries to figure out all the bizarre happenings around her. What will ever happen to her now that everyone knows about her obnoxious client’s death?
Queen Witch is in Dylan’s little town, and she is looking forward to teaching her how to cast spells and harness her magical powers. There is also a wicked witch who wants Dylan’s powers and will do anything to have them.
Add the police with their nosing as they try to resolve the murder and clients who are now wary of this gifted girl and her clothes, and you have yourself a page-turner.
Clearly, Dylan has enough issues to deal with. Fortunately, she has enough people on her team. Her sister, who also owns the bakery next to her shop, her grandmother, the Queen Witch, and a sizzling hot bodyguard who doesn’t leave her side.
Dylan has to learn fast how to use her magical powers. However, with the police poking their nose into her life and the witches bossing her, life is not going to be easy. Dylan is also aware that solstice is coming, and there is no telling what will happen when her witch powers get to their peak with all the chaos happening around her.
This is a fresh and clever read with outstanding world-building, humor, and just the right dose of mystery. The magical cast and witch politics are believable, and it’s amazing how the author makes you care about whatever is happening in the characters’ lives.
Scared Witches is a hilarious southern witchery story that is sure to entertain you to the last page. The book comes with enough mystery, magic, family secrets, and romance to keep you glued, not to mention the lovable characters.
There are also twists that you will barely see coming. You will enjoy interacting with Dylan and seeing her growth as she works to harness her powers. Roman also remains an intriguing character, and you cannot help but wonder how his relationship with Dylan will go.
The protagonist’s siblings Sera and Reid also have enough going on in their lives, and it is fun meeting them all.
