Amy Lane is an established author of the science fiction, fantasy, romance and gay & lesbian genres. She hails from California, United States and has published more than 20 novels under different novel series in her career. She has successfully written a total of five novel series’ which consist of 3 to 6 novels in each. The novels written by her have been so much successful that she has become a well known personality of her town. Amy has said in her interviews that she had always dreamt of becoming a successful writer right from her childhood days. As a small kid, she used to read the works of the famous authors of that time and gain a lot of inspiration from them for writing her own stories and characters. Amy was mainly interested in reading the science fiction, romance and fantasy novels in her growing years, which increased her enthusiasm in becoming an author to a greater extent. She was also supported by her parents and friends, who kept encouraging her to read different masterpieces of the renowned writers. This gave her a lot of motivation and Amy considers it to be one of the main reasons behind her success. Being a mother, Amy always finds herself busy with the daily chores of her house, but does not forget to take out some time from her busy schedule and contribute to her writing. Occasionally, she devotes her full day towards writing her novels whenever she is required to meet the deadlines. Amy lives with her husband Mack and her four children in a mortgaged house in Citrus Heights, California. Her house is often filled with spider webs, cats and several other weird creatures other than her family. Amy Lane allows her fans to reach out to her through emails and blog posts. She has also developed a website that offers complete details about her past and present writing works. Amy has a strong liking towards writing urban fantasy and romance novels, and leaves any chance of mentioning family sacrifices in her writings in order to give strong messages to her fans about the magics of family bonding.
One of the novels written by Amy is called ‘Promises’, which consists of 4 novels published between the years 2010 and 2013. The first novel of the series was published by the Dreamspinner Press in the year 2010 under the title ‘Keeping Promise Rock’. The plot of the novel deals with the lives of the main characters named Carrick Francis and Deacon Winters. Carrick Francis was known to land himself in trouble every now and then and had spent most of his life paying for his mistakes. However, he is saved every time for getting imprisoned because of his strong devotion towards Deacon Winters. Deacon used to play the role of Carrick’s salvation and sanity during his abusive and miserable childhood. Carrick was also equally determined to do whatever it takes to stay with Deacon forever. Hence, when he learns about the tragic death of Deacon’s father, he puts his plans of going to college on hold and decides to support him in his grief as he had helped him a lot in his troubled past. The only dream that Deacon has, is to see Carrick escape from the memories of his difficult childhood and also from the town in which they live so that he could make a better future for himself. Slowly, Deacon begins to develop feelings and temptation towards Carrick and after two years of hiding his feelings he finally succumbs to his advances, in spite of being painfully shy. He admits that he considers himself as an important part of Carrick’s life, in front of him. However, his feelings get thrashed when he learns that Carrick has been waiting for push him away from his life just like his family did once in the past. Carrick’s mistakes do not stop and he has continuously landed himself in trouble all the time. On one occasion, he is taken far away from his home and Deacon is left all alone and shocked at his loss. He finds it difficult live without Carrick beside him. He begins to think that his love is just like a promise which cannot be fulfilled.
The second novel of the series was published in the year 2010 by the Dreamspinner Press under the title ‘Making Promises’. In this novel, the love life of the main characters Shane Perkins and Mikhail Vasilyovitch Bayul. The opening plot of the novel depicts Shane Perkins as a professional fighter. He always has the desire to become a hero and never gets the chance to prove his worth. When he takes the decision of going down to fight as a profession, he begins to think of it as a shattering decision because of the injuries that he sustained in the fights. After one such fight, he comes home from the hospital and craves for someone to fill his lonely life with love and take care of him. He wishes to have someone in his life to miss him when he goes to fight and pray eagerly for his return in sound condition. Soon, he takes up the job of an office in the town of Levee Oaks and tries to keep his family promise in trying to reconcile with his troubled sister. His sister Kimmy works as a dancer to make her living and her partner Mikhail falls in love with Shane after seeing him for the first time. Being a man, it is highly impossible for him to get the love of Shane Perkins. He tries to keep his promise of staying clean and taking his mother to a beautiful place before she dies. He begins to fall for the brave and earnest attitude of Shane and gets shocked after hearing Shane speak in his manner as he is also known to keep his promises.
