Amy Sumida is an American author best known for the award-winning Godhunter series. She believes that her stories writing can empower women as well as help them to escape from reality. Her books features strong women characters, gods, shapeshifters, vampires, dragons, and all manners of the paranormal. She is also the author of the Twilight Court series, the Beyond the Godhunter series, the Spellsinger series, and the Spectra series.
Sumida was born and raised in Hawaii, but has since made the move to the state of Oregon with her cats. In addition to writing, she enjoys painting on whatever she can, antiques, tea, and the night time.
The Hawk Soul is the first book in the Soul Stones series. The book follows Ravyn, a human soldier in a Fae army of shapeshifters. He is not a complicated man and prefers to keep things simple. Ravyn doesn’t have many expectations for his life outside of the simple pleasures, but when two amulets are stolen that only a human can retrieve, Ravyn is the one for the job. What he doesn’t know is that the Hawk Lord will accompany him. The Hawk Lord is brave, honorable, and drives Ravyn wild. One look from the Hawk Lord has him agreeing to the mission. The mission brings the two together in the most unexpected way as they are drawn closer together.
Spectra is the first book in The Spectra series which follows a cynical superhero. Everyone thinks that Spectra is a superhero, but she think that they are all delusional. She was once the translator for the President of the United States and a supernatural who could manipulate reality through colors. Everything changed when she met an angel. Now, women are disappearing and Supers are running rampant in D.C. Making matters worse, a Demon is stalking her and just about everyone is out for her blood. She doesn’t quite know who she is anymore, but she knows she’s not a superhero.
The Spectra series continues with A Gray Area. Amara is now a part of a secret, supernatural team knows as FEAR: First Extraordinary Abilities Regiment. The team has just been given their first assignment to discover what is taking the color from the people and landscape of a neighborhood in Washington, D.C. As Amara looks into just what is causing this, she learns more about the races, magical bonds, and her own immortal blood. The facts will shock her and they could make her stronger than ever, or they could destroy everything she loves.
The Last Lullaby is the first book in The Spellsinger series. The book introduces us to Elaria, a spellsinger. A spellsinger is someone who can manifest anything that they sing. She is sent to Tír na nÓg, Realm of the Shining Ones, where all of the strongest magic-users in the all of the Realms are located. She is sent here to assassinate one of them, a king. The king is quite attractive though and she feels that is a shame, but he won’t know what hit him.
The Spellsinger series continues with A Symphony of Sirens. The story in this book sees sirens starting to go missing. The assumption that there is a supremely powerful being behind them because of just how powerful the sirens themselves are. Elaria looks to find out who is doing this and why this is happening. As she looks more into the situation, she is given more questions instead of answers. If she hopes to save her family, she’ll need to work fast.
Another series by Amy Sumida is the Twilight Court series. The first book in the series is called Fairy-Struck which follows a woman who is instantly attracted to someone, but the relationship can’t happen because it is forbidden because he is a fairy and she is not. The two will end up working together to stop a bioweapon that threatens to destroy the human race. The two will have to do their best to deny the special connection between them if they wish to make it out alive.
The Twilight Court series continues with Pixie-Led. The book picks up after the events of Fairy-Struck as Seren Sloane’s life has become even more complicated. She discovers a fairy plot to destroy the human race and will do whatever it takes to stop it. The hunt will put her on the path of a villain, unless she ends up pixie-led in a never ending circle of confusion.
A Darker Element is the first book in the Beyond the Godhunter series by Amy Sumida. The fey typically tell themselves a fairy tale story about their creation, but the truth is actually much darker. The Faerie was said to have separated the dark emotions from the elements so that the fey were born pure, but in actuality the Darkness was an element of its own that threatened Faerie’s very existence. This lead to the creation of twenty-one dark-sidhe, each with the power of a dark emotion. Litaris is one of them and their emotion is shame. They can’t get beyond that emotion and they have never experienced happiness, safety, or love because of it. If they hope to find those things, they will need to learn to overcome their own emotion.
The Beyond the Godhunter series continues with Out of the Blue. Eztli seemed destined to become Huitzilopochtli’s love, but one day he turned her into a monster. Then her name became a curse and her own life turned into a nightmare. She managed to survive though and grew stronger. Now, she is known as Tilly and she is given the chance for revenge after 500 years. She has a chance to get to Huitzilopochtli and destroy him, but is that what she really wants?
The Ghosts of War is the first book in the Tales of Beneath series. It is a M/M paranormal romance about a Water Witch who is thurst together with the Greek God of War, Ares.
