Andrea Laurence is an award-winning author that writes contemporary romance. Andrea has also been known to dabble in the paranormal genre, though all her novels feature an aspect of romance.

Like most authors, Andrea Laurence has always loved books. The reading bug bit her when she was still young. By the time she was three, Andrea was devouring the written word all on her own. And as is often the case, that interest in reading eventually gave way to a passion for writing.

Andrea was eight-years-old when she first started seriously pursuing the idea. She managed to get her hands on an old portable typewriter. It allowed her to experience the satisfaction of producing a story.

Though, Andrea wasn’t brave enough to let her dreams of publishing carry on into adulthood. For all the passion she had for storytelling, Andrea was also a practical person.

She couldn’t bring herself to trust in publishing as a viable career. She decided that she had to find a path through life that could guarantee financial success. And Andrea Laurence did just that, going to college, getting herself a Master’s Degree and pursuing an ordinary career.

Andrea will tell you that she was pretty successful in her field. At the very least, she could pay her bills. However, she never got over her passion for the written word. And the more time she spent pursuing her day job, the greater her desire to write fiction got.

Eventually, Andrea gave into the craving. She decided to give the publishing game a chance by cranking a couple of manuscripts out. Like most authors, Andrea wasn’t too keen on giving up her day job during those early days, mostly because publishing has never been the most stable of fields.

And that cautious approach paid off because the author had to write eleven manuscripts over a period of eight years before someone finally took notice.

Considering the length of time she had spent hammering away at her craft, Andrea was pretty ecstatic when she got the call from Harlequin Desire. That was in 2011. Andrea Laurence began walking the path to publishing success from that day onward and she never looked back.

Andrea believes that her struggles to get her foot into the publishing door were the result of her strange writing voice. When she first made the decision to pursue writing as a career, Andrea found it really difficult to identify a genre.

She knew she wanted to write romance. However, her characters and her voice never seemed to fit anywhere As a result, she doesn’t necessarily fault the publishers who turned her down at the start of her career.

She did not know where her books would thrive best. The author thinks that it was mere luck that her work came across an editor who actually understood her stories and who could best pair her manuscripts with the right publisher.

Andrea doesn’t have any special tips for aspiring authors. She does encourage them to read and write a lot. That is what Andrea does. Her stories begin with a basic idea which she turns into a detailed synopsis.

The author has a plotting group that helps her expand on her concepts until she has a fleshed out image of what her book will look like. Andrea doesn’t sit down to write until she has an intricate outline that details the events of each chapter.

Once that is done, Andrea sits down and she writes. Most of her writing gets done at night and on the weekends. Once she completes her first draft, she steps away from it for a few weeks before returning, doing the necessary revisions and mailing the final product to her editor.

+Facing the Music

Ivy and Blake were lovers in high school. However, things did not end well. Not only did the pair break up but Ivy went on to become a famous rock star. Her fame was precipitated by ‘Size Matters’, the angry song she wrote about their break up that not only went to the top of the charts but also ruined Blake’s reputation.

This was as Bake watched his dreams of a career in the NFL go up in flames.

Five years have passed since those fiery days. Blake isn’t quite the laughingstock he used to be. He went back to their hometown of Rosewood. And while he isn’t exactly living the high life as a football player, he still gets to pursue the game he loves as the coach of the high school football team.

Now a town hero who led the boys to great victory, Blake should have been riding a wave of glory to a bright future. But then a tornado wrecked the town and left the high school stadium in tatters.

A plan is put in place to hold a series of charity fundraisers to raise money for the reconstruction process. Blake’s grandmother decides to ask Ivy to lend her fame to their cause.

If Blake and Ivy want to see their town rise out of the ashes, they must face their past head on.

‘Facing the Music’ is the first book in the Rosewood series. The book tells the story of a high school football hero who cheats on his girlfriend. She humiliates him with a song even as his sporting career implodes.

Years later, the hero and the heroine have a second chance at clearing the air and making things right.

+What Lies Beneath

Cynthia Dempsey was a woman of high society, or at least that is what they tell her. The woman that wakes up in a hospital doesn’t remember much about her life. She doesn’t remember her real name and she certainly doesn’t remember the man sitting by her hospital bed.

This is despite the fact that media mogul Will Taylor is her fiancé, or so everyone keeps telling her.

Will thought he had lost Cynthia. But when she comes back to him, she is completely different. She isn’t the ice-cold queen who had so callously betrayed him. There is a warmth to her he’s never seen before and he cannot deny the sparks flying between them.

Now, Will is afraid her memories will return and he will lose the woman he has begun to fall for.
