Meeting a group of LGBTQ+ teens at the local Acheson, they come to be known as the ALC, and through them Benji meets their attractive leader Nick. Trusting Nick with his secret, it soon transpires that Nick may have secrets of his own, as Benji hopes to protect the ACL from dangers beyond. Can Benji keep his own monster at bay though, does the ACL have a hidden agenda, and will he be able to save the world from annihilation?

The book itself is well written, making for an engaging and entertaining story that really comes alive on the page. With a dark sense of foreboding too, the atmosphere works extremely well, creating a suspense fuelled ambiance filled with trepidation. As a character, Benji himself is very well drawn, as he feels well developed, resonating with the reader every step of the way. Feeling three-dimensional, it’s definitely a story that will keep the reader thinking long after they’ve put the book down.
