Andrew van Aardvark is a pseudonym for an author that likes writing Science Fiction. Space Opera Adventure with a military cast and a bow to being semi-plausible in regards physics. The major exception being FTL, of course.

Andrew likes reading stories with diverse heroes that tackle nearly impossible odds with good humor and possibly a touch of irony. He tries writing stories like this too.

“Cold Stars, Free Trade” is the first novel in the “Captain Jack” series and was released in 2018. Jack “Ack-Ack” Black had spent decades as nothing more than just a cog in the galaxy’s greatest military machine, having scrimped and saved what money he could all of that time in order to achieve his independence.

Now he was a free trader with a ship of his own. He had graduated from cog to now being a pawn.

“Hot Stars, Fair Trade” is the second novel in the “Captain Jack” series and was released in 2020. Jack truly believed that he had it made. With just a little bit of help from friends that he had survived a pirate conspiracy in order to monopolize the trade in this sector. He had believed he was free to trade between the stars just like he had always dreamed of.

But now his friends just wanted him to fill the vacuum which pirate monopoly left in its wake. It was such a stretch even before the powerful interests moved to stop him.

“Far Stars, New Trade” is the third novel in the “Captain Jack” series and was released in 2020. Jack is a bigwig now and playing in the big leagues. Boss of the biggest trading and shipping company in the sector.

Controls much of the FTL freighters that are available there. It is an asset of great strategic significance. It is attracting a bunch of unfriendly interest. Can he handle it?

“Terra’s Evil Children” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2017. The peace has lasted for centuries now, however there is a war coming. Short sighted politicians back home, unrest beyond the frontier, and the over stretched Solarian Defense Force in the middle.

Only a few are able to graduate from the Academy every year. They are the best that Earth has to offer. What will they do in order to defend her?

“Peddler to the Stars” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2018. Sam was just a simple peddler to the stars. The frontier stars and the scattered stubborn folk among them.

All that he wants is to just make enough money to spend more time with Annie. However he’s not calling the tune, and the song that has been selected is not one of peaceful co-existence, instead it is a song of war, or subjugation.

“Moving Target” is the fourth stand alone novel and was released in 2020. The world of 2040 isn’t a safe place. Somebody is trying to kill Louis Green. But he doesn’t know why, nor does he know who it is. But he does intend to find out, and he will get them to stop. He’ll even ask nicely. At first.

“Katie Kincaid Candidate” is the first novel in the “Katie Kincaid” series and was released in 2020. It is the 24th century. Humanity is just about to take its very first steps to the stars. Katie Kincaid, a Belter girl, intends to take part in such an adventure.

She wants to make a difference, but she’s got more than just a few obstacles in her way. It will certainly be interesting for her.

“Katie Kincaid Space Cadet” is the second novel in the “Katie Kincaid” series and was released in 2021. Katie’s dream has now come true. She has made it into the Space Force Academy on Earth. It’s quite the achievement, particularly for a young girl. A first for any Belter.

She’ll now have to prove all of the naysayers wrong. The ones that were saying she would not fit in, that it would be much too hard for her, that she would just flunk out.

Turned out that they had been right because she didn’t fit in, and it is definitely hard enough. Katie’s determined to prove them all wrong about her failing.

“Katie Kincaid Ensign” is the third novel in the “Katie Kincaid” series and was released in 2021. Katie Kincaid has just graduated from the Space Force Academy. She is being set loose on the wider Universe. Or our small corner of it, at least.

Very junior officers aren’t allowed to make waves of any kind. However Katie just can’t help herself. Solar System, watch out!

“Katie Kincaid Lieutenant” is the fourth novel in the “Katie Kincaid” series and was released in 2021. Katie is on the fast track, having just been recently promoted, and given an XO’s slot out around Mars.

They are not all that friendly out there. Katie has got her work cut out for her.

“Katie Kincaid Commander” is the fifth novel in the “Katie Kincaid” series and was released in 2022. Katie finally has her own ship. It is what she has always wanted. Her problems, however, have just begun.

Her ship’s old, her crew is new, and her grandma’s dying. But at least her mom does not hate her, however the smugglers are winning. She is unable to trust her own government, and there are some powerful aliens that are waiting in the wings.

Could be that the fate of humanity is resting in her own hands. So, ya know. No pressure or anything.

“Katie Kincaid Commodore” is the sixth novel in the “Katie Kincaid” series and was released in 2023. Katie is a commodore. The crisis that she has spent her entire life preparing for is now breaking upon a humanity that is ill prepared for it.

She has been given the most powerful fleet that Earth has ever had to go and deal with it. However it is a huge and nasty galaxy out there. Katie’s best, Earth’s best, might not be enough.
