Angel Lawson is a USA Today bestselling author. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her family, and has had a lifelong obsession with creating fiction from reality, either with words or with paint.
Typically, she can be found reading, plotting her escape from the zombie apocalypse, writing, and just trying to get the glitter out from underneath her nails.
Angel writes the “Raven’s Queen” series, the “Death Field” series, the “Allendale Four” series, the “Wraith” series, the “Supers of Project 12” series, and the “Creature of Habit” series. She has also written some stand alone work. She writes romance, young adult romance, and paranormal romance.
“A Vampire’s Soul” is the first novel in the “Creature of Habit” series, which was released in the year 2015. The summer after she finishes college, Amelia Chase gets a coveted job as personal assistant for the reclusive but brilliant Grant Palmer. Grant’s obsessive compulsive behavior and aloof nature leads Amelia to start rethinking her job. But she changes her mind when Grant steps in to rescue her during some bizarre kidnapping attempt. She quickly realizes that Grant is a man of all kinds of secrets, all of which are hidden behind an elaborate facade of control and self-discipline.
Grant spends days in an expensive tie and suit, and funding charitable works for his family’s foundation. Nights are reserved for patrolling the tiny city of Asheville and the nearby mountainside in an effort to keep the residents safe from rogue vampires. Why? He has got his own collection of kills he feels he has to atone for that come from his own days as a bloodthirsty and rebellious killer.
Amelia and Grant’s professional relationship winds up becoming personal, and it distracts Grant from the duties he has. While the victim count rises, it becomes apparent that there is a predator in the hills of North Carolina that has got a vendetta against Grant. Since this predator is aware of Grant’s increasing interest, possessing Amelia is one sure way for this killer to enact his own twisted revenge.
This is a wonderful story that is filled with some characters sure to warm your heart. Right from the start, readers found they were rooting for Amelia and Grant to end up together. The book has a bit of everything: romance, humor, and action.
“A Vampire’s Curse” is the second novel in the “Creature of Habit” series, which was released in the year 2015. Amelia really should have ran when she had the chance to. Away from her job and Asheville. Most importantly though, away from her lethal boss, Grant Palmer.
Instead, she finds Grant’s draw is irresistible even after he reveals some of his darkest secrets. Amelia stays in Asheville despite the fact there is a killer stalking her, knowing that the one person that is able to keep her safe is just as dangerous. It is a choice that is going to change her life. Maybe even destroy it.
These books each make for an entertaining read that gets you excited to read the next one in the series. Both the romance and story line hooks you and you cannot put it down for very long.
“A Vampire’s Mate” is the third novel in the “Creature of Habit” series, which was released in the year 2016. Amelia’s world gets dark while her life and love hangs in the balance. Despite all the consequences, she has made up her mind, and now has to help the Palmers struggle to find Oliva, who was abducted by Caleb. Even if she is able to find the missing piece of the vampire’s rather narcissistic game, the damage could prove to be irrevocable.
Each member deals with the fallout differently. Sebastian has disappeared, Elijah is a wreck, and Grant has gone on the warpath. New challenges stare them down, Grant and Amelia especially. While they struggle on their brand new journey. One that is going to either link them together for eternity, or rip the entire family apart.
The book keeps you on the edge of your seat while you wonder what each of the characters is doing and what part they are going to do in the battle that is coming up.
“Wraith” is the first novel in the “Creature of Habit” series, which was released in the year 2012. Crazy, freak, and weird. These are the names that get tossed around Jane Watts, seventeen years old, by her classmates. Things are not what they appear. Sometimes there is a good reason to be talking to yourself while in the hallway at school. Adjusting to her new school and home after they moved abruptly, and just wants to be like everybody else at the school. That is hard to do when you are the new kid.
She is able to make a new friend, a sixteen year old boy named Evan. He is charming and protective. It is all a girl could ever want in a best friend. With just a minor caveat. The kid is dead. He is caught between death and life, and is tied to Jane and the living world while he is unable to finish his journey over to the other side.
She believes he is here to be her friend, to take care of her, and this is why nobody else is able to hear or see him. That ends when a new boy turns up at the school after he allegedly did time in Juvie. Connor is able to see Evan and he is not convinced the ghost is being totally honest.
From his own personal experiences, ghosts tend to require something from the humans that they have connected to and Evan, despite his arguments is no different. Jane resents Connor’s intrusion, but quickly realizes that he is right. Evan has got secrets about his past. Not only did his life end tragically but members of his family are still in danger. Jane has to face her fears and fight Evan’s human demons to make sure they both get free.
