Angela Roquet is an American writer of macabre novels with a dash of comedy. She is best known for the Lana Harvey series of novels, of which the highly popular “Graveyard Shift” was first published in 2009. She loves to style herself as a big weirdo with a love for random craft supplies, skulls, owls, and “Danger Girl” comic books. A fan of religious tolerance, marriage equality, and renewable energy, she also has a fascination for mythology, the afterlife, and world religions, which have a great influence on the making of the characters in her novels. Before becoming a full-time writer, she was graphic designer, which has come in handy particularly with the marketing aspects of her novels such as ads, bookmarks, and social media banners. As a newbie author she would design her own book covers, as she did not have the money to hire a pro, but got so many compliments that she just kept on doing it. She lives with her husband and son in Missouri where they spend most of their time reading books and boating at Lake of the Ozarks. She is a member of the Four Horsemen of the Bookocalypse, the Horror Writes Association, and the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.
Roquet first got interested in reading and writing when she read “The Cookie Monster and the Cookie Tree” at about age three. Her mother read it to her so many times, that it jump-started her love for literature and storytelling. Over the years, she grew to love novels with a touch of macabre comedy. Some of her all-time favorite novels that have inspired her novels include Mary Roaches “Stiff” and Christopher Moore’s “A Dirty Job”. She also loved “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” for its fantastic quest, interesting characters and new worlds. Many of Angela Roquet’s novels touch on the aspects of the afterlife and world religions. She credits this to her early interest in world religions having spent most of early education studying in a private Lutheran school. She would later attend public school, which exposed her to many other ideas about religions opposed to the one-sided approach of her early education. Even as she had a hungry and open mind to learning, she found the courses on religion in college very unfulfilling and ended up spending most of her time browsing books from the library for better content. Still, she found that the library was not enough to sate her hunger and hence she expanded her search to online sources. Roquet would read on a variety of religions including Kabala, necromancy, Hinduism, voodoo, mythology, shamanism, druids, Wicca, and paganism. She still collects any information she can find on religions that take her fancy.
Angela Roquet’s Lana Harvey series of novels is a combination of horror, fantasy, and comedy inspired by her love for Joss Whedon, and in particular “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. The novels are set in Limbo City, a mythical capital city of the afterlife that is the most exciting playground of the underworld where the people and deities of every religion meet and mingle. The lead protagonist in the series is Lana Harvey, who though considered an infant by Eternity standards is an eighth generation reaper. She has been working as a low risk harvester for 300 years, but now finds herself to a more exciting job by Grim. While she does not care for intricate political struggles of the After Council, she soon discovers that her new job involves making uneasy alliances with the who’s who of the Eternity underworld. These alliances fully disrupt her life as she soon finds herself embroiled in the struggle for power between rebels seeking to violently take over power from the council, while dealing with a new romance. Lana is a tranquil soul that would rather have a beer with Archangel Gabriel in Purgatory Lounge, rather than do some serious soul searching or demon ass kicking. When Roquet first started writing the novel series, she was inspired by her love for role reversals. A big reader of macabre novels, her grim reapers had always been skeletal, traditional, male figures in hooded robes. As such, she penned her first short story that involved Lana Harvey as a female reaper, which was the basis of her first novel “Graveyard Shift”.
“Graveyard Shift”, Angela Roquet’s first novel is a bubbly, breezy and light story about Lana, a reaper in Eternity. She is some kind of low class citizen in the city of Limbo where she is charged with taking souls to the after lives their beliefs support. The afterlife is quite a mess, but it would be terrible without the likes of Lana, as with more humans being born and dying, the traffic to the afterlife is always increasing. The work of the reaper is not to kill but rather to conduct confused souls to their destinies according to their earthly beliefs. However, all the souls first have to stop over at Limbo City the capital, which just like any other world city, has the typical politics, backstabbing and intrigue. The reaper just like your ordinary employee is mostly concerned with getting their job done and avoiding the boss’s wrath. But for the lazy and contented reapers such as Lana, there are deadly, scary plans put in place by the Weavers. Given that reapers do not get to have an afterlife, no reaper wants to die. But there is always some fun and intrigue as one reaper is charged with conducting in the one soul that prevents the demons from overpopulating Eternity. Lana is chosen for the job but the fun comes in when no one knows which of the millions arriving in Limbo City is the one soul they are looking for.
“Pocket Full of Posies” is the exciting sequel to the first novel in the Lana Harvey series of novels by Angela Roquet. The novel is full of the mystery, humor, romance, and intriguing deities of the first novel. Lana Harvey once again has to deal with the threat of terror in Limbo City, but this time it is different as she is the target. The highly ambitious reaper believed that she had become an expert of the political intrigues of eternity after passing her Reaper Academy exams. She is brought back to earth when her apartment goes up in flames, set on fire by a deranged demon. It would seem that her activities and big victories chalked up in the last year have caught the attention of some of the most terrible of demons. What is even worse is that it is not only a few demons that have taken notice, but also the Afterlife Council. She is now the victim of a blackmail attempt from Horus the Egyptian god who wants her to do a highly dangerous and illegal job for him. She is getting demands from all sides with Lucifer’s daughter Cindy Morning Star insisting that she attend a two-week demonology course taught by Beelzebub, a gorgeous and handsome demon, which is sure to send her boyfriend into a rage.

I bought Angela Roquets book Shadow of Death book 2 of the return to Limbo City series on 8 June 22 it now says book is unavailable & not in my kindle library. Also I can’t find it on kindle store any more. Any idea why?
A few days ago Angela replied to a comment on Facebook saying the pre-order was canceled for it, but that it will be released prior to the 3rd book.
